Scum Epic's gonna rock both of them (until they disallow Bossk and similar). Buzzsaw on huge ships with homing missiles? Please and thank you...
Imperial epic ships......
It is much easier to bring all weapons to bear on a CR-90 when the the slugfest is in full effect.
Crossing the T is a seriously legitimate strategy.
no the CR90 can not shoot behind it. page 2 huge ship rules.1. That's why the CR90 can shoot at range 5 and the raider at range 4.So after playing a few more games with the new epic ships I can honestly say that the imperials have the much better epic ships. I am a Rebel through and through... but the raider can bring the pain...
Here are just a few points I have,
1. The raiders ability to spend 2 energy to shoot twice is much stronger then the CR90 ability to add one die. another words the raider is throwing 8 die with primary in 2 shots and the CR90 is only throwing 5 in one attack.
2. The raider has much larger arcs then the CR90 for secondary's.
3, The raider has a better dial the then CR90.
4. The raider titles are better the the CR90.
5. The transport is no were as good as the gozanti.
6. gozanti can shoot if he equips a weapon.
7. the gozanti has can even support better then the transport.
I have more point but you get the picture. I want to hear your thoughts on which side has the better epics and why?
2. Yep, but the Cr90 can shoot better behind from the front arc. Once the fighters are behind the raider, this one has a really hard time shooting at them beside his rear 2ndary weapons, while the corvette still can shoot from her front 2ndary weapons.
3. Can't argue on that.
4. That's very debatable. I find that both ship have crappy titles. The Gozanti and the Transport are the ones who have good titles
5. They do not serve the same purpose and the transport is 10 points cheaper.
6. Transport with Bright Hope title will laugh at your Gozanti weapon. Also, the Transport can Slicer Tool.
7. I beg to differ.
No side has better epic ships than the other. They all serve different purpose and you have to build your fleet according to it. Rebel ships are more support oriented while imperial are more agressive oriented.
You also have to consider the faction pilot and upgrades. The CR90 can have Jan Ors and Roark Garnet next to it to allow a 6 dice attack at PS12 with Han Solo crew to make your TL act as Focus token.
"When that ship targets a ship outside of its firing arc, measure a line from the exact center of the chosen ship’s base to the exact center of the huge ship’s corresponding base. If this line is not obstructed by the blue center line on the huge ship’s token, the huge ship can declare the chosen ship as the defender"
and yes it can shoot range 5 but I will argue it cant shoot range 2 and the raider can double tab from all 3 of its ranges.
And yes the transport is cheaper but can upgrade the Gozanti much better.
I agree Han solo is awesome in epic on the CR90.
I know that. This is not what I said. I said the front arcs of the cr90 make it easier to shoot behind/on-side with its 2ndary weapons.
I disagree fully. The large 2 back arcs on the raider can shoot a larger area then the CR90, but yes if you have the right angle the CR90 front guns can shoot a little further back... Though the raider from arcs is much larger overal.
And yes thematically the raider being stronger make sense to a degree, but in a balanced game that should be the case. The question is, is the raider only 10pts better the the CR90? I say it's more like 15-18 Points better with 2 extra shield, better ability, and better dial.
I think ordnance tubes will be a distinct game-changer. The trouble with ordnance weapons have been their expendable nature and their placement on squishy ships that might not hang around long enough to use them. Tubes solve both problems.
Small ship support isn't limited to the rebels. Howlrunner (with swarm tactics) and Jonus can both benifit the Raider take both if you want and reroll practically all your attacks, unlike the rebel support they would be benifit all your normal ships in ranage as well.
Personally I find this fairly daft and wish FFG had ruled that epic ships were not affected by normal ship abilities, would have been clearer and given better game.
Yeah, let's make epic ships so terrible that they don't actually see play in epic games.
Honestly would they be terrible? I don't get to play that often but I didn't think they are as bad as you're saying.
