I've been looking through the threads and couldn't find an answer to this. If ejecting R2-D6 doesn't remove the EPT from the pilot, do you get to keep any other astromech's ability if you eject it? Used IA for the first time tonight and never had a chance to use it. Incoming damage was so overwhelming the IA made no diffence.
Integrated Astromech effects
You lose the astromechs effects, the reason r2d6 continues to work is because you paid before the game began for that upgrade plus the droid point for that privilage. Ia is good for smaller damage situation or awful surprise crits. Like when a proton bomb gives you a direct hit through full shields...
Didn't I just answer this in the rules forum?
You are loosing the effect of the 'mech however, apparently, you only need to have the appropriate slot when you purchase an upgrade, if the slot goes away after it is attached the upgrade stays.
Except for huge ships and that one damage card they can get.
I would assume that, if there were an effect that triggered based on the presence of an EPT slot, that it would stop working on a ship when that ship lost R2-D6, even though an EPT CARD is still equipped.
Agreed. It doesn't exist at the moment, but some sort of 'best of the best' title/upgrade might say "all friendly ships within range 1 with [Elite Pilot Talent] on their upgrade bar may....." and you'd lose access to this if you binned R2-D6. At the moment, there's apparently no effect at all.
I suppose it's being consistent; notice that the Mist Hunter title compels you to buy a tractor beam cannon but doesn't actually add the [Cannon] icon to your upgrade bar, and Youngster gives out his upgrades to nearby ships whether they have the [Elite Pilot Talent] icon or not - it's not compulsory to have the icon on your bar to have the card's rules available to you, just to buy it in the squad-building stage.

You pay for everything before a game starts...
It doesn't sit well with me but not like Biggs with Push the Limit is going to give me trouble.

Okay did i understand that correctly? You lose R2-D6 but keep the EPT Card and can use it as normal?
That was exactly what i suggested how it might work in a thread in rules section and no one agreed back then.
If so, a few questions fir you Forgottenlore:
What do you base this on. I have not had time to check the new FAQ for changes. Anything new there about this?
Why would you lose the effect triggering off the EPT card if it's still there?
Thanks for the responses guys. Forgotten, sorry I missed your previous response to this. FFGs search engine hates me.

There was an email from Frank saying how it worked.
Myself I think it's different than epic ships, in the case of huge ships you aren't actually losing slots, but rather have a different ship with a different set of slots on it. But I'll admit it's a fairly fine distinction.
