Well, you've got no shortage of warm bodies on the board. 5 TIE fighters should allow you to play merry hell with blocking, and a decimator takes some killing even without upgrades.

What sort of squads have you used it against?

Looks pretty nasty. Is the fifth tie better than 12 pts of upgrades on the deci? My gut says no but I haven't flown it.

I call this one "Five TIEs Burgers and Fries".

I played against a list that a player copied from WORLDS. 3 k-wings. TLT. Whooped it bad. Lost 1 tie fighter, 2 damaged. Deci not touched. Killed 2 k's Within first 3 turns.

It really makes my opponent think. Hmmm. 5 ties. Or 1 Deci. Which do I take out first. ??????

That is a list that you really have to know how to fly well. This is why simply copying a World's list isn't a good idea without practice. Also, K-Wings are pretty easy to focus down with that many ships against 1 Agility, and neither the TIEs nor the Decimator are crippled by stress like some other ships.

Exactly so. The downside, of course, is that you shoot last, but having played a TIE All-Stars, I can appreciate the joy of a TIE swarm which can move in whatever order is easiest, and as noted, putting a stress token or ion token on one 12 point TIE fighter is not exactly something to write home about.

I suppose it really boils down to comparing four Obsidian Squadron Pilots to the Patrol Leader and an Academy Pilot - the former makes the super-swarmy super-swarm of 8 TIE fighters, the latter gives you a big tough lunk with a turret and (one) three dice attack.

Either way, It doesn't surprise me that you ate TLT squads alive.

I'm thinking about trying this out in a tournament tomorrow. Being new to the game, I think I'll enjoy not having too many upgrades to worry about.
