SNOW!!!

That little an amount of snow shut the city down ? Good grief.

Last year the snow banks were higher than myself and I'm 6'2". Still went to work, walked down in a full on snow storm since it was safer than driving. It's amazing how hard it is to walk when the snow is up to your knees on the sidewalks.

Our city doesn't have snow ploughs or sanders as it costs too much to keep them and never use them.

Also, the true danger is the ice. The snow usually melts during the day and becomes black ice. That stuff is worse than snow to drive on.

You don't have to explain black ice to me. I hit a patch, narrowly missed going under a semi trailer and hit a ditch at 100 KM per hour back when I was 18 in Saskatchewan. **** air bags didn't even go off.

Pretty much the same as what we see in Dallas. Maybe snow once a year, and when it does, the temperatures teeter on freezing. So it snows, melts, refreezes, rinse and repeat. Everything covered in ice.

And while the ice is bad, the biggest danger is the fact no one knows how to drive on it, myself included.

A couple of years ago we had a terrible storm that left the roads covered in what was dubbed 'cobblestone ice'

that's solid ice on the roads, not snow. And it completely sucks to drive on

Yes we are Andrew.

Yeah that does kind of give it away LOL.

I'm more central than you guys. I'm in Ottawa.

If we get a regional, you guys willing to visit? :P

Not for a regional. We will have one in the Maritimes. Most likely here in my home town and I will be TO. Nationals is a different case.

This is like Iowa. Were I am if you plow your own snow before the trucks come in, YOU MUST STAND GUARD BY YOUR DRIVE WAY OR THEY WILL PURPOSELY SCREW YOU OVER BY RAMMING ALL THE SNOW ON THE ROADS BACK INTO YOUR DRIVE WAY.

They say shoveling snow is a good way to stress test your heart, well I guess Iowa wants to make sure they have people living in their areas that have health hearts by making them re-shovel their snow over and over again. I like it though, I like the weather being neg 40-50. I hate hot weather. Much easier to get warm when its cold, than to get cool when its hot.

Once you get over the fact you can't feel, the cold doesn't really bother you after a while.

I hear that, I hate the heat, and a little part of me gets excited when winter storms roll in.

Here is the picture for this morning. It's been a mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain. We are supposed to get possibly 1-3" more snow today. Tomorrow is the Panther's game and it will get well into the 40's to melt it all. Today is the day to enjoy the snow before it is gone.

My auntie has a house of the shore of lake ontario and in the winter they get huge 'ice cliffs' forming towering up.

Sensibly i visit in summer.
