Fan Card: Illicit Stockpile

(1 pt) Modification

Illicit Stockpile: When you are instructed to discard an illicit upgrade card, you may discard this card instead.

It's pretty much the extra munitions of illicit upgrades. I'd like Hotshot Blaster more if it were 2 points, and this kinda does that. Also lets a ship double down on Glitterstim and Intertial Dampeners, though stress could become an issue. This card also increases the dependability of the new Cloaking Device, but at the cost of pairing it with the Stygium Particle Accelerator, which I think is a fair trade.

I'd be a huge fan of this card, personally. Thoughts?

There are no restrictions on using inertial dampeners or glitterstim while stressed. You could use it every single turn, if it weren't a discard.

with this proposed item its a double discard not a sinlge so you can only use it twice.

But he's right in correcting me, when I said that you wouldn't be able to glitterstim or inertial damp twice in a row. You would be able to. I can only see that being abusive in the case of IG-88s and Glitterstim. You'd have to scrap the Autothrusters though, so maybe it may even still be a fair trade.

Mainly I want the ability to run 6 Binayre Pirates, each with the ability to HotShot blaster twice per game. Six PS1 ships, each with 3 attack dice who are able to shoot in any direction isn't OP, right? ....RIGHT?!

Also I'd run the PS5 K-Fighter with HotShot, this mod, and Predator for good times, but that's probably just because I'm a lazy pilot who'd rather spend 4 points than learn how to maintain arcs properly. Too hard. =P

I expect this to be a Scum Pilot ability ala Tomax... or maybe an few scum uniques that get 2 illicit slots... either would be nice but a flat "can be used twice" is a bit too potent for EVERYONE to be able to use.

Get a fellow X wing player to play test it with you, then report back.

Sure, but my main problem is that I'm intrigued by HotShot Blaster, but not for 3 points. Now, two of them for 4 points is another story entirely. I think there are a lot of low PS Scum Ships that would much rather spend their 4 points on double Hotshots than on an Engine that they still may not be able to find arc with, especially when you consider that the Engine requires your action for the turn while the HotShot doesn't. Even YV-666s and FireSprays can have trouble finding ships in those pesky blind spots.

That said, autothrusters is still a pretty rough counter to this, so while it does open up some strong new scum options, I'm not entirely sure it'd be OP. Just something for me to dream about, really.

Read the quotes. he was suggesting it use the missile slot instead of the modification slot, I was saying I can't use it on a starviper i fit takes the missile slot. Not saying I'd use it on the modification slot, but if it was misisle or torpedo slot like he suggested after, I'd totally use my torpedo slot for a second use of an illicit upgrade. It's not like I equip torpedoes anyway.
