3x T70?

By flaick, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hi guys, i like the X-Wing T70. Can you suggest a 3x T70 build to make them competitive?

I'm thinking a regen/defensive build like this:

Poe + R5-P9

Blue Ace + R2-D2

Red Ace + Comm Relay + R2-D6 + Juke + IA

As offensive build (4 points left):

3x Red Squadron Veteran + Predator + R5 Astro + Autothrusters

Any ideas?

Red Ace really wants to be the one with R2-D2 - their abilities match so well that he becomes incredibly hard to take down.

By comparison, Blue Ace works well built to outfly opponents - either BB-8 or R2-D6 (Adrenaline Rush) work well.

The Offensive build..... Predator Red Squadron Veterans are nice - you can afford to use focus defensively, or to boost when you want to, and still get accurate fire. I'm not convinced R5s are the best call, though - R2 astromechs do dramatically help you when dealing with stress - a hard turn and boost out of a tallon roll, for example, gives a huge range of movement, and gives you enough spare points to make one of them Ello Asty.

This here may be the most 'competitive' triple T-70 list because its relatively easy to use and relatively hard to kill:

Poe w/ VI, R5-P9 & autothrusters = 37

Red Ace w/ R2-D2, integrated astro & comm relay = 36

Blue novice w/ R3-A2 & integrated astro = 26

99

The only problem with the list is Blue novice is the obvious first target, so he'll probably die quick. Hopefully he can stress something valuable before he goes down allowing your other two to murder it (and it will be a good exchange if its worth more points than little blue).

Personally though, I don't think its very exciting (I'm also getting really sick of seeing Poe and red ace everywhere since my meta is saturated by these two, so I guess I am biased). For that reason, I plan on using this (on Friday actually):

Ello Asty w/ lone wolf, R2-D2 & autothrusters = 38

Red Vet w/ R3-A2, integrated astro & predator = 31

Red Vet w/ Targeting Astro, integrated astro, flechette torp & crack shot = 31

100

Ello's ability is so much cooler than the other named T-70's (although blue ace's looks fun too). He can beat anything with lower PS 1v1 without breaking a sweat. So all you need to do is take out things he might struggle against (higher PS aces). The red vets bring the right amount of control + firepower to make that happen. Its the first rebel list I've been excited to fly in a while!

I haven't tried it *yet*, but R2-D6, Juke/Relay might be a fun build for Red Ace.

On the monday night xwing there was a slick poe plus 2 red squads with crackshot, IA and targeting astromechs

As a base you can easily start with:

Poe - PtL, R5-P9, Autothrusters

Ello Asty - PtL, R2-D2, Autothrusters

This leaves you with 22 points, not enough for even the base PS 2 T-70. However, PtL can be swapped for VI, and Autothrusters can be swapped for Integrated Astromech. Doing that for both pilots frees up 8 points.

That's 30 points. Red Ace is 29. Wowwowweewow. So we strip VI from Ello and Poe and put Comm Relay on Red Ace.

Alternatively you can just put that 22 points toward a Green Squadron A-Wing with PtL and Juke.

Thanks guys. I prefer Predator on Red Veteran than Crackshot. Only just is not one use.

Also i agree about R2 Astro, it's better than R5.

It's a fair point. Crackshot is nice on TIE fighters which go pop like confetti, but it takes fairly concentrated fire to kill a T-70 X-wing.

One that I've actually had a bit of fun with is Lightning Reflexes - it's surprising how good a position that one-use talent can land you in - but predator is probably the best talent going - providing a constant offensive boost and allowing you to use boost and talon roll as required.

If you do take predator, though, targeting astromechs become somewhat meh in value, so I'd stick to cheap mechs like R2s and R5s.

This is probably how I would do it.

T-70 X-Wing: Red Squadron Veteran (26)

Predator (3)

R2 Astromech (1)

Integrated Astromech (0)

T-70 X-Wing: Red Squadron Veteran (26)

Predator (3)

R2 Astromech (1)

Integrated Astromech (0)

T-70 X-Wing: · Poe Dameron (31)

Predator (3)

· R2-D2 (4)

Autothrusters (2)

Or, with those 30 points, go with Tycho with the title, refit, autothrusters, VI & PTL. :)

Yes, I know it's not triple T-70s but it's still fun to fly.

Poe vi + R2d2/r5p9 + thrusters is your standard

Asty with bb8 + ptl + thrusters is the most fun you will ever have with the ship

Add a ps2 with r2 integrated for the third

This! I love this build!

Blue Ace and BB-8 can be impressive, too.

Yes i like BB-8 on Blue Ace very much. But i think he has low PS.

Oh, you can't use it reactively (well, you can against generic pilots, and he's ridiculous) but even against high PS aces, you can get yourself into very unexpected places; a higher PS pilot might be able to react by boosting and/or barrel rolling out of your arc but will rarely get a shot themselves if they do.

R7-T1 can be nice too, as it's a way to get boost and a target lock - nice for a guy with no elite talent - athough the 'being in arc' and range restriction make it not as good as it might be.

The one other combination I've used is R2-D6 and Adrenaline Rush. It's one-use, but pulling a Tallon roll to one side and then boosting with a hard turn inwards has faintly ridiculous results - dropping you neatly in at range 1 on the side of a higher PS ace who thought they were safely 'on your tail'

I've been using this for a bit

Poe w/ R5P9, VI

Ello w/ R2, VI

Red Ace w/ R2D2

Total 100

So far its been proving pretty versatile, not much room considering the pilots.

Blue Ace works nicely with R7-T1. That 90 degree boost with TL can catch opponents off guard.

Ello with Veteran Instincts, R2 Astromech, Weapon Guidance, and Integrated Astromech.

Poe with Push the Limit, BB-8, Weapon Guidance, and Autothrusters.

Blue Squadron Novice with Targeting Astromech and Integrated Astromech.

How much joy have people had with these T-70 lists? I really like the idea of 3 X-wings, but have been told 3 t-65's is bad idea.

I thoroughly enjoyed flying 2 Red Squadron Vets with IA, Targeting Astro and Cool Hand over the weekend. The talon roll with a TL and focus was awesome and caught a couple of opponents out a treat.

I paired them with a Lothal Rebel and it did pretty well but I don't see why you couldn't put a kitted out Poe in instead.

double post

When I fly rebels I fly 3 x-wings because that's what I got . The difference is my lists are all T70x2 + T65. Usually Poe, Biggs, and Red Vet. Lately been trying to get Luke to lead Red Vet x2. Lots of theme, but not much steam.

I like Red vets with PTL and R2 IA. PTL to focus and TL for better dice modification than just predator. Plus option for defensive use of focus. R2 opens up a lot of dial for stress relief.

I enjoy a decked out Red Squadron Vet. They're great for casual games where you don't need to worry about torp scouts nuking your cereal bowl. Talon Rolling into a green 2 turn thanks to R2 can really catch people off guard. With the intent to exploit my talon rolls in mind, I like predator and weapons guidance. With a simple focus token, they become very accurate.

Ive been running a 3 T70 list lately. It has very mixed success but it is a lot of fun to fly.

Ello and 2 Red Vets all with Plasma Torps, Guidance Chips, R2 astromech, and Weapons Guidance
