Poe and Weapons Guidance

By Jedu, in X-Wing Rules Questions

If I run Poe with Weapons Guidance, took focus action and have rolled 3 attack dice, which result is: 1 blank 1 eye 1 hit, may I:

1) change the eye into hit using Poe's ability and then spend my focus token to change blank into hit with weapons guidance, resulting 3 hits?

OR

2) change the eye into hit using Poe's ability and after that I can't use weapons guidance, resulting 2 hits and 1 blank, because Poe's ability forces me to save my focus token?

Number 1 would be the correct way to do it. Because both abilities trigger at the same time, you may choose the order to resolve them. Poe first, because all you need is the token, then spend it with WG. If you used WG first, Poe can't trigger.

If you're right, that's great! Thank you.

Parravon is right. Compare and contrast Poe's wording with Advanced Targeting Computer for an example of something that requires you to have a token and not spend it.

Do what the card says to do. Do not do what the card doesn't say to do. No where on Poe's card does it state that he is NOT able to spend the Focus token if his innate ability is used, as DB points out.

Parravon is 100% correct.

What do you mean "if"? ;)
