Blue Ace builds?

By rabid1903, in X-Wing

Afternoon everyone,

I'm curious as to what builds have been thought of for this rarely seen T-70 pilot. Personally, I think she needs to be kept on the cheap. Below is my take of her:

"Blue Ace" (27)
R2-D6 (1)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Integrated Astromech (0)

A cheap 27 points, for a slippery PS 7. This especially works well with the ruling that IA doesn't ditch the EPT given by R2-D6 when you sadistically eject the tin can into space.

To complete my Lucky 7 build with:

Poe Dameron (31)
Adaptability (0)
R5-P9 (3)
Autothrusters (2)

Ello Asty (30)
Push the Limit (3)
BB-8 (2)
Integrated Astromech (0)

Total: 100

Poe can choose to match the rest of the squad's PS of 7 or can sit happily at PS 9. This obviously depends on the ruling for Dual Upgrades though.

What has everyone else thought of?

- Experimental Interface and R7-T1 for lots of actions with the special boost. Mount an Adv. Proton Torpedo. Focus, then EI to use the droid, and you might end up in a great position for that range one shot.

- Maybe this is the ship that R5-X3 was made for. Using the boost, you can end up in lots of places, and with the droid you're really slippery.

I mentioned this elsewhere, but man, you gotta try it! Basically 39 points for one sweet 5-hit strike.

Blue Ace (27)

R7-T1 (3)

Experimental Interface (3)

Advanced Proton Torpedoes (6)

Oh my lord, that's too much power for one pilot to wield! Definitely worth trying once, but I don't think I can stomach putting that many points into a PS 5 ship for more than one game

I feel like her ability is begging to be at a higher PS, but I can definitely see the point of these two droids. R5-X3 will make her very cheap and hard to predict, which is always very nice to have.

Personally, I'm fond of a very simple one:

"Blue Ace"

R2-D6

Integrated Astromech

Predator

With R7-T1, you're only getting Boost+Modifications if you're in arc of the guy you're locking to start with. Odds are you'll either boost in for a close range exchange against each other or you'll end up getting the flank on a pilot you don't have TLed. I'm just not a fan of that.

Instead, with Predator he's free to use that Boost to become a really nasty flanker and still modify his dice. Ever do a four straight and then boost hard inside right along the edge of a rock? Cause it's pretty amazing and almost no one will see it coming. You're free to use your Boost whenever and however you want, he can mod his dice, and the IA will make him pretty durable (though if you have the points, feel free to tack on Autothrusters instead!).

It's also very economical at only 31pts.

Yay! Blue Ace!

He is by far my favourite T-70 pilot though I usually run him nekked.

I use him with R7-T1 and Autothrusters. The ability to pull a 90 degree boost and gain a TL can catch many opponents off guard. He's great.

R7-T1 does seem like a natural fit for her, and works well as an arc-dodge against lower PS or as a great blocker against higher PS. It still seems hard to stomach getting her up to 30 or more points. What kinds of squads do you fly with her?

Flew her in the following squad and got myself into the Top 4 one tourny at my FLGS (there were only 12 players in total, so no great feat; but I was happy!) All up, this squad is currently at 5-3 for me.

I like

Blue Ace
BB-8
Integrated Astromech.

29 points, check out the barrel roll left, before 1 bank left, followed by right turn boost....

If you're ever feeling silly...

Blue Ace

r2d6 + daredevil (4)
Experimental Interface (3)

This ship, can 2 right turn, 1 right turn, 1 right turn... and come around 270 degrees.... If you, uh, need to be silly amazing.
