Best Scum Ace

I'm trying to build a Store Championship squadron and I'd like to base it around 2 x Syndicate Thugs + TLT + Unhinged Astromech. This leaves 50 points. I'm reckon this should buy me an ace and a blocker.

How would you spend the final 50 points if you were making a competitive squadron?

When's the tournament? Because I'd be inclined towards either a Mist Hunter (I'm partial to 4-LOM) or Dengar if they're out in time. If not, Talonbane Cobra would be my first thought, but he's a bit flimsy, or an IG88B, but IGgies have initiative issues.

I think Xizor is amazing when played well. Here is my scum list.

Xizor - Predator - AT

Bossk - Calculation, outlaw tech, 4-Lom, Zuckuss (Amazing way to spend 40 points)

Binayre Pirate x2

Depending on your preferred style, I'd suggest either IG-88B or Boba Fett. IG is better if you like to keep your distance. Boba is better at getting up into the fight. IG has more consistent damage, but his lower pilot skill can make tracking down aces tougher. Boba (with VI) can deal with aces and his ability can give a mini-swarm fits.

Other variations of Boba are reasonable too. Tactician is great if you are skilled enough with controlling range. It can really shut down aces. Or you can drop the seismic and upgrade the crew to Gunner for more consistent damage.

I have had a lot of success with Bossk lately, for 45 points you can get his ship with a K4, Outlaw, VI, and EU. Leaves you some room for illicit upgrades or cannons too, or maybe a tactician. Just have him hug one edge of the board and turn into the middle when combat is about to start, his huge arc should let him get a shot at just about anyone in the fight.

Xizor is the ONLY "ace" if looking for something akin to vader/soonts

Use vi + fire control for high PS with great modifiers

Kath, VI (or PtL), EU, K4 then modify to taste.

IG88B with AT and a Z?

Well, if you want a blocker as well (I'm assuming a Binayre Pilot at 12 points), that would leave you 38.

You could go:

IG88 C or D with Autothrusters.(38)

Guri (Virago, Autothrusters, Advanced Sensors, Inertial Dampners, Wired (38)

Maybe (to keep the theme) Kavil TLT (30) and a Cartel Marauder (20) instead of the Binayre?

You could convert easily to 2x TLTs if you're comfortable dropping the initiative bid. N'Dru Suhlak is an alternative to the Kihraxz and comes out a point cheaper, although I've found him unreliable in a four-ship list. If you can wait until after Wave 8 is released, I think Spice Runner + Dorsal Turret + Greedo could make for an effective, cheap blocker/clean-up hitter at a similar price point.

The problem I've observed is that most of the one-ship options in that 50-point range are too fragile for serious tournament play, and most of the two-ship options lose to enemy aces. If you end up going the one-ship route, I think IG-88B is probably the best choice by a pretty large margin.

I have done well with:

N'Dru with Engine, cluster missiles, glitterstem, and LW or Predator if you have the points

Talonbane with Engine and either PTL or glitterstem

Guri with AT, and your choice of VI or PTL, AS AC, or SJ, and Adv. Proton torps if you have 6 points to burn.

I do not fly large based ships, so they might be OK too.

Fett with VI/Lone Wolf, Glitterstim, and EU/Stealth Device. Steep cost (no room for a blocker), but super resilient if you fly it in the middle of a couple of enemy ships and pop glitter.

IG88B may lose the PS game, but the manueverability is still enough to arc dodge.

Boba looks decent with TLTs. N'dru is cool if you want to go 3 TLTs.

Also a big fan of Kavil, but I haven't played him enough to feel comfortable with ABT, so I usually go BT and R4 Aggro.

Either Bossk or Fett, both with VI certainly.

the two TLT list suffers greatly when exposed to high-PS aces, something Fett can deal with quite effectively.

IF you can find 52 points for him, he can take an Autoblaster+Veteran+K4security+Slave I+Engine upgrade and REALLY RUIN DAY FOR ACES and anything he comes into contact with

with TLTs supporting fire and burning through non-evasive (1-2 evades) ships

Expert Handling Bossk isn't bad and it'll negate El Presidente.

Why expert handling when you can have Daredevil fun (you're buying K4 and Engine upgrade for him anyway)

I think IG88B is really the best scum late-game ship (ace). PS will alway be an issue anyway with ships that aren´t PS11 because Vader is pretty common at PS11. The thing about IG88 is that he has a big arc and unpredictable S-turns. Then he has the built-in gunner which makes him one of few ships that can reliably shoot through Soontir´s tokens. I like Scum Boba but even with VI and PS 10 I would rather take a PS6 IG88B into the endgame.

IG's problem is going to come from TLT Stressbots. If he gets more than one stress token on him, it really shuts him down and makes him predictable. Those are common enough that I'd actually be tempted to consider running Wired on him to help keep those eyeballs useful after Glitterstims are gone.

Wired Crab bro with FCS isn't as bothered actually.

But is complete and utter food for aces :(

I think Xizor + Binayre is the best combo mentioned so far. Here is another strong ace I used on a few occasions:
