Rebels trailers has a new kind of Tie Fighter

By Olethros, in X-Wing

I want my S&V TIE NOW!!!

It's called a Scyk :P

That is the most offensive thing anyone has ever said about a TIE Fighter!

The TIE cost 2 less, and is capable of 3 turns and 5 straights!

These new TIEs probably have MUCH better visibility, considering the panels removed, are precisely where the pilot would have vision obstructed on the left and right side.

Betting that if this ship makes it to the game, it'll have a wider than standard front-arc.

Things like Phantoms, Defenders, not to mention practically all Rebel ships, have a much bigger filed of vision that a TIE Fighter and yet the arc remains the same...

Giving scum ties immediately invalidates headhunters.

I thought this, then thought some more and thought Eh cool, non-uniform swarms.

Zs can take missiles.

It would be a tough balancing act. What would FFG do to make Scum TIES fair, different, and balanced?

For 12 points, the Zs get an Illicit. So, giving the TIE the same for 12 doesn't seem out of the question. But the Scum Z is PS 1 (rather than Rebel's 2). So a PS 1 Scum TIE with an Illicit may cost 13 or 14 points. Another route they might go is a limit of the PS range... as in the lowest Scum TIE might be a PS 3 or 4. This would then inflate the price to 14 or 15 points.

Those TIE's are missing forward panels. maybe less thrust. Red 5 rather than white? Remove the K4 turn. Add white or red 1? Also, since they are techno union. ALL THE TECHNO MUSIC!!! UNTZ UNTZ UNTZ

They should just give scum Invid Clutchs instead. Less maneuverability, light shielding, Ion cannon and two laser cannons.

That, or give both Rebels and Scum Lines since there were so many produced.

If FFG brings a Scum TIE into the game, I'd want the same treatment as the Ys and Zs. You may use Rebel/Imperial dials, but must use the Scum pilot cards and upgrades. I have so many TIE Fighters... I don't need to buy any more. lol

I doubt it would be exactly the same as a TIE/ln because it's a physically different ship. Same goes for the TIE Advanced V1 vs the X1. It'll probably have it's own dial and ship type... HOWEVER I don't think you'll need to worry about buying a whole swarm of them. Because you already have Z-95s, so it's likely going to offer some different role. If it has a Howlrunner type pilot, you can simply group it up with Z-95s. If it doesn't, you can probably just put one in your list and have Serrissu be the support ship, and let the new TIE be the ace who GETS support.

I can't stand even looking at Rebels/Clone Wars, is it not a remodeled Line Fighter or is it a new ship like the Inquisitor's box in a box?

Agreed. Though they should also get a Title card. As these ARE standard TIEs that have been modified. That modification should have SOME effect in game.

If they did change the dial, it would need to be a very different ship than the TIE Fighter. I think we would all jump for joy if they gave it the greens of an Interceptor and the punch of one too.

Then it needs more laser cannons. As far as I'm concerned, it's a modified Line and should act accordingly. Chances are, as the Rebel's TIE is stupid to begin with, that it's probably not that much different besides slightly compressed inversion on the panels.

It also begs if FFG would even bother releasing another swarm ship to another faction.

The TIE Advanced X1 was a prototype, or Vader's personal ship until the EU changed it into a production line of ships. The Inq's TIE Advanced is essentially a prototype of a prototype.

Give them a wider arc...

That doesn't make any sense.

Having better visibility doesn't magically put the guns on a swivel. Every ship in the game has the same arc, regardless of it's field of view, unless it they have traversing guns.

And there you have design space. The wider view would make it easier to make minute adjustments as they can see more.

Ships with wider, or narrower, arcs offer a whole new range.

Zs can take missiles.

Plus, more importantly, Illicits.

Personally I also prefer it's dial to a TIE's for blocking, but I think I'm in a minority there.

No scum TIEs. Just no.

Seriously. TECHNO UNION sounds like a German industrial band, like a "hard" kraftwerk.

Everyone says the Wings of ties are bad for visabiltiy, but based on the Viewport itself, and How far back the pilot sits, I don't think think the wings matter. sure they would if you were right up against the window, but from what I can tell you aren't.

It's pretty much the same as any of the other Separatist factions. Trade Federation. Banking Guilds. etc.

Not... really.

I can't see Banking Clan being untz untz untz.

Trade Federation.... ehhhh no.

but Techno Union. UNTZ UNTZ UNTZ UNTZ UNTZ.

Edit: The proper title is intergalactic banking clan.

I'm thinking 70s disco or 60s hippie.
