BC Brobots: A sorta different strategy?

By PhyrexianScience, in X-Wing Squad Lists

My current build:

IG-88B (53): Predator (3), Heavy Laser Cannon (7), Fire Control System (2), Autothrusters (2), IG-2000 (0), Inertial Dampeners (1)

IG-88C (47): Veteran Instincts (1), "Mangler" Cannon (4), Advanced Sensors (3), Autothrusters (2), IG-2000 (0), Feedback Array (2)

Total: 99

The strategy here is to have 88C run in the middle of the board evading and putting the pressure on while 88B hangs back at a longer range and gets some hits with the HLC.

Is this strategy applicable or is a symmetrical build just better? I want to compete with Brobots, but I have no clue what the meta looks like at my store.

Anyone?

I've tried running asymmetrical bros before. It can be tricky with the different PS as well, but it gives you a wide open toolbox and will throw your opponent off a bit. Keep them spaced out, like you suggested so there are no maneuvering issues. Put it on the mat and report back. Let us know how it goes.

Ran Asymmetrical a few weeks ago to win a tournament.

A - Adv Sensor, Mangler, AT, VI, Ion Bomb, Glitter

B - FCS, HLC, VI, AT, Glitter

Wish I took C instead of A, but the knife fighter / artillery comp worked well.

Adv Sensor with the cheap bombs is super fun.

Sample with C: Activate Adv Sensor, Boost + Evade, Reveal Sloop, drop Ion Bomb, perform Sloop

Enemy just kinda stares like "wtf..."

I think there are tons of options with Brobots that are competitive, you just have to practice a lot. I think the idea of VI with advanced sensors and autoblaster would be fun, too. You could fit that if you dropped the mangler and feedback array.
