Inclined to agree.
Same goes for mux, knocking an ace down to 0 is gonna be as annoying as anything, they are gonna have to take him.

Edited by DariusAPBwrong phase to worry aces too much. phantoms aren't abundant at all
it doesn't mess their activation :C
Just means they are dead before they can fire.
I'd love a Hawk fix. It's already one of my favorite ships to fly. Twin Parts are really all you need. Just fly out on the edges of the battle. Blast away. It's one of the most relaxing ships to fly. It just meanders around the edge sniping and buffing.
Gr-75? It's a ram ship. With ability to be kited for epic buff\debuff
HWK is a buffer who costs you a quarter of the list. And dies absurdly fast, being the weakest link with lousiest dial ever
(I presume for HWk it's diel not dial.
We get it. You don't like the HWK. As you've said multiple times in the thread already.
He's been around for three months and has 1,300 posts. You can't put up those numbers if you're worried about some triviality like repetition.
*Looks at his own post count - ****!
Oh well, this discussion of Warpman versus the world isn't going anywhere, have my favourite HWK build that also includes a Star Viper:
- Torkil Mux: TLT, Recon Specialist [28]
- Palob Goldahi: Predator, TLT, Moldy Crow [32]
- Guri: Predator, Virago, Autothrusters, Sensor Jammers [40]
Focus Palob? Get pounded by hyper-Predator shots. Focus Guri? Well good luck with that! Focus Torkil? Those hyper-Predator shots are still around...
It is a well rounded build that can realisticly take on anything, meaning it still has a chance in matchups that aren't favourable. I am currently something like 8-3 with it I believe.
Shhhhh, I'm planning to take a slight variation on this to a tournament soon. Don't spoil the fun ![]()
But seriously, Palob really loves Engine, which has the unfortunate side effect of knocking your Torkil down to an Ion instead of a TLT. Still trying to decide whether it's worth it or not. Torkil sort of prefers Range 1-2 anyways since he's best at enabling the other two.
What if you kept torkil's TLT and switched palob to ion since he is engining I presume up close to steal?
I don't think it is worth it, his PS is 7 at max, which makes him no contender to contest the aces. I'd stick with more TLTs.
I agree with Deathrain on that. Your list is already short on damage dealers and it's easier to make Palob a threat. Blaster Turret is a bit too fickle so TLTs are a great way to keep him relevant. His ability makes it a tough call for the opponent - try for range 1 to get out of TLT range, lose your focus. Stay at long range and watch his endless focus tokens give him a much greater rate of survival. Engine just helps him control range and get out of arcs.
Torkil with Ion not only lets him target everyone is his effective range, he's also the least threatening of the ships. Do you target the Ion-toting annoyance that can only deal 1 damage, or the nightmare that is Palob/Guri? If you ignore him, great! They get to shoot first with nasty predator shots. If you shoot him, great! It'll take at least two ships shooting to bring him down and in all likelihood he'll get to shoot before at least one of them.
Guri is just gravy against TLTs and sensor jammer on her combos well with Palob.
Plus, there's something incredibly fun about running two Hawks and a Starviper and having it do unexpectedly well.
I think the one thing I'd like to see for the HWK would be some way to improve its dial. It feels far too slow/predictable as is. I think something along the lines of a modification like the TIE MK 2 would give it a little nudge without making it OP. Little less predictably with some more green on its dial which will lead to an increase in survivability. it would still be slow, but you can't have everything.
