So I am dead set on running Poe with VI R2D2 and AT for store tourneys (just too good and I've got too much practice with him, also I just picked up his alt art card so there's that) but am struggling with the other 62 points. Yeah I know I could just run Heaver's list but who wants to be "that guy" right? So tonight I said hell with it and just ran him with 5 bandit Zs and I think I really like it. Good swarm of blockers to counter action reliant aces, if they get to shoot first they can tear down a TLT Y or K pretty quickly if flown right. Comes in at 98 points so you're very likely to get your option on intiative. I guess the point of this post is to convince me this is a bad idea or I think I'm gonna roll with it.

I suggested this same list to one of our locals who's been running Poe, and who also really likes running an 8Z swarm.

He really likes it, and is probably going to be running the list regularly.

His Poe is slightly different, but it's the same idea.

I played this exact list for a few weeks in my league and it swept pretty hard. People have difficulty countering the swarm. Great thing about Zs is if you get stuck against a PS1 swarm they can still slow roll with the 1 forward. Also tried taking 4 Prototypes As for the same 60, but it didn't run as smoothly.

If you only have one 3 dice attack you will definitely need to maintain range 1 with the Zs.

I thought the thing to do with Poe was

I've been running the same 38 point Poe (VI, R2-D2, AT) but with 2x Warden Squadron Pilots with Tactician and TLT on both. It has been working very well. It is a versatile list. In my experience with the list, the key is to force your opponent to spread damage around. Use the SLAM action to prevent them from focusing down a K-Wing. Also use the tacticians to create a no fly zone to protect Poe. He is a monster in the late game, you just have to get him there.

I didn't know there was an alt-art Poe...I'd love to see it!

Also, I much prefer, as has been said already, the Poe build with BB-8, PtL, and Autothrusters to the regen build. It's just more FUN.

I added weapon guidance and proton torpedoes to Poe. Then I run him with Dash who's using PtL, engine upgrade, title, HLC and Nien Nub.

I've tried that but with Kyle instead of Nien. TLTs just melted Dash. Granted I was up against Triple K Tactician.
