Plz give me a few ideas
Emperor + saboteur - how would you build it?
Is "With Wampa and Colzet instead of Saboteur" a legal answer?
Edited by WWHSDAn interesting thought. Maybe saboteur on Whisper? Paired with Vader. The problem is that is an action, you'd leave yourself open (unable to use the Emperor's ability) during combat.
Lambda-Class Shuttle: Omicron Group Pilot (21)
· Emperor Palpatine (8)
TIE Phantom: · "Whisper" (32)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Fire Control System (2)
Advanced Cloaking Device (4)
Saboteur (2)
TIE Advanced: · Darth Vader (29)
TIE/x1 (0)

Not a fan, but how I would do it if that's what I was going for.
Well its a strong way of keeping enemies outside R1. Basically - come into R1 to fire your torpedoes etc, and you get zapped by a critical sabotage Palp lightning. Beautiful and game controlly
Oicunn pretty much just wants to make a mess of everything. Add 42 points worth of ace and have him go cause train wrecks. You can switch Ion Projectors out for APL based on your preferences.
Captain Oicunn (42)
Intimidation (2)
Saboteur (2)
Emperor Palpatine (8)
Ion Projector (2)
Dauntless (2)
Total: 58
Illegal - palp takes 2 crew. Yes?

Yup. but the Decimator can hold 3.

Dont forget that its a 100% sure crit with palp. Sure better than most combats? Goes past shields right?
3 crew slots on deci..
Edit .. ninja'd by a minute

So you're basically paying 6points (2+ 0.5 x8 for Palp) for Saboteur. And then then you need the following to happen:
-have an action, preferably a spare one or else you're hurting your damage output (ptl for another 2pt ?)
- be at R1 of the enemy ship
- that enemy ship has to have a damage card
to turn a hit into a crit.
Sounds like a great investment!

The point is that if you are gonna bring Palp, you might as well squeeze a saboteur onto whichever youd want to either protect and/or bully an enemy ace around the board . Thats cheap for 2 pts

Except those same 2 points could be a Tactician, Moff Jerjerrod, Agent Kallus, two thirds of a Rebel Captive, half of Ysanne Isard, etc, etc. The Saboteur trick is cute, but there are many better ways to spend those points.

Crits do NOT go past shields.
Sure its cute, its also controlly, unexpected, and according to Worlds lore could ensure a gamewinning crit. Same control could be said for Nera Dantels. Basically - come into R1 and receive advanced protons in return . At any angle. That controls space and it all adds up into winning a game. Especially if an opponent opts to avoid the sabotage and stay outside R1.

Why Saboteur is a bad choice even with Palpatine around:
1. You need to decide to use Palpatine on Saboteur before you know if Palpatine would be better used during Combat.
2. Crew slots are valuable. There's almost always something more useful to put in them.
3. You need to burn an action to activate it.
4. Even with Palpatine, using Saboteur is still a gamble because some crits just aren't worth it.
Colzet is a much better choice to get the same effect. It costs an action to use his ability (unless he has FCS) but that action can happen before the target has been given a damage card. As long as he has a target lock, his ability has no range restriction. Even if you never use his ability he's still a solid enough addition to a squad for his cost.
The best way to use Saboteur is to leave it at home in the box.
For 19 points a TIE Bomber Shuttle with Saboteur and Intel Agent might be your best option if you really want to make Saboteur happen.
That and a basic Palpatine shuttle leaves you 52 points to bring something to do damage with.

Imagine a damaged Corran or Poe getting a blinded pilot to sabotage. Would a Rebel risk that by moving into R1? I suspect not. Would you use that action to secure that crit, AND take your chances with firing afterwards. I suspect you would.
All crits are a gamble. I agree. But thats not a saboteurs fault. Just the nature of the game. My interest is that basically - crits wins games. The more the merrier

Saboteur is one of those cards that looks great at first but once you actually work through how it will get used in a match it becomes much less attractive.
Edited by WWHSDI do think that even with all of it's other restrictions that Saboteur would have found a place if instead of being an action it was an alternative to attacking (like Feedback Array is).
I've run this in the past, but honestly Saboteur is so situational that you are better off with some other tricks.
Patrol Leader + Vader + Saboteur
Oicunn + Determination + Palpatine + Dauntless Title + Saboteur
Lately I've been switching it up to:
