Tractor Beam Creating Valid Targets

By failedparachute, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Okay, so I have a hypothetical situation here. Let's say we have three pilots on the board Wedge, Fel, and a Blue with a tractor beam. After maneuvers Fel and Wedge are overlapping in Wedge's front arc at an angle. The blue is positioned behind Wedge so at the moment the only shots available are (in PS order) Fel to the Blue, and then the Blue to Fel.

Combat happens as normal, so Fel shoots and then the B-Wing decides to use its Tractor Beam. The Beam hits Fel and the Rebel chooses to Barrel Roll Fel backwards away from Wedge, but still in his arc. Now, does Wedge get to shoot, since he has a valid target? Or because he had no valid targets at his PS when it came up, is his shot forfeit for the round?

No, wedge's turn has come and gone.

And in some wonky situation where you had 3 players (non-team members) and the blue was instead something like a VI Bossk (ps9), if the initiative order was Imperial - > Rebels -> Scum, Wedge's turn would still be lost as it would be a near identical situation to Turr's faq entry

If the player controlling Turr Phennir has
initiative and Turr Phennir attacks an enemy
ship of the same pilot skill, he may use his
ability before the enemy ship attacks. If
Turr Phennir is no longer a valid target after
resolving his ability, the enemy ship cannot
attack Turr Phennir.

It's different enough in Turr's case, since he'd be Barrel-Rolling or boosting out of arc, which is what would make him an invalid target. This is having a BR in arc create a target in arc. Generally, though I'm inclined to agree that the timing window of Wedge's shot had passed and he doesn't get one based on that. I was curious, though, what other people thought.

No; Wedge gets to shoot at PS9 or not at all, this is no different than if Turr had barrel rolled as a result of being shot at and ended up in Wedge's arc, or if Jake had got a focus during combat somehow and boosted into Wedge's arc etc etc. You don't jump back into PS order because you didn't get a shot before.

This, by the by, is one of the two reasons why it's really important with tractor beams to have them shooting first...
