New Campaign Book + Tokens: would you buy it?

By Soulflame, in X-Wing

So what if FFG decides to make a campaign booklet with new missions (let's quantify it: two small, 5 mission campaigns and 5 one page single missions or something like that).

And what if in the same package, there are some cardboard tokens: cluster mines, conner net, a couple of new debris & asteroid tokens (not found anywhere) and a whole bunch of mission related tokens, including a cardboard space base.

Would you buy it? What would you pay for it? $20? $30?

What other tokens HAVE to be included (let's forget cards at this moment, so just cardboard punchouts, okay MAYBE it includes the cards for the mines, but no cards other than that. So competative people won't miss out on anything if they don't buy this. Well perhaps the Debris/Asteroids...)

If they would make some models in it - such as asteroids and debris and mission artifacts - and have a reasonable amount of missions, I would pay between $20 and $50. But then, If the content is equitable with the price, I'll buy anything they produce.

I dont play campaigns, so nope.

Yes, I would probably buy that.

If they included acrylic tokens, then I would be interested.

If they provided a way to play a Necromunda-style campaign, I'd play the hell out of it. I'm sure a lot of other ex-gw players would be on the same boat.

I think it'd have to be a pretty good campaign system with some very useful paraphernalia to hook me; I'd blanch at mainly buying a ruleset.

$20 for cardboard and missions? Pass. I don't think you could include enough cardboard to make this "worth it". I would, however, pay $20 for some acrylic asteroids (say, 2 rocks, 2 debris?) and some missions. Give me something I can use that will enhance my x-wing deathmatch experience and we're onto something.

I think the problem you have with pricing this stuff is this: Anything $30+ already comes with at least one mission. I think at $60+ they come with 3+ missions? Not to mention all that sweet free plastic and upgrade cards that come with it.

For distribution of new missions I'd be MUCH more inclined for something like a store kit: A single mission copied 16 times, along with 16 small packs of cardboard asteroids/debris/special bombs/etc. Something that supports 16 people. Have a single upgrade card thats equipable to all ships, like a title that gives your "special" ship +1 health and is unique. Something that could be used in tourney play, but is more likely casual fun. And I'm in. Make that same "1-of kit" $5 to anyone a month after stores can run the scenario and I'm all in. Probably for a few of the kits.

This, so much this. A campaign with some sort of fleet/asset management would be awesome.

It would also be a good chance to package duplicates of some upgrade cards that are otherwise not easily available.

0% chance

Id like to see a senerio or 2 in the small base ships

Are you aware of this? http://dockingbay416.com/campaign/

Fan made but very professionally done and many, many people are playing it, so the answer is: yes, people would buy it if they made a campaign book.

The problem with a product like this in X-wing is that FFG has been commited to making every product more or less standalone in conjunction with one of the core sets. If you have a bunch of missions in a book that say 'you deploy x ships of this type' it necessitates the buyer already having a huge fleet.

I think their mission control ap is a better use of everyone's time

*looks at heroes of aturi link* holy mynocks I'd pay for that!

I'd love to see FFG do something like this and include models for the Senator's Shuttle, maybe the Cargo Container, tiny 3D bomb/mine models, maybe generic freighter/passenger ships to be used as obstacles/objectives.

Also, yes -- fleet management type campaigns would be awesome. I'm not sure FFG would/could really give it the time & effort it would need, though. That sort of thing might be better left to the community, honestly. That being said, a common 'campaign core' might be nice to have to build off of.

Nope. Not without acrylic tokens.

For cardboard and interesting multi-threaded mission tree? $10-15. Maybe.

If that last feature The idea of written documents protecting individual liberties took early root in England’s American colonies.as added, maybe we could go the $15-20 range!

I would like to see something like this. If it comes with cardboard then $15 is probably the max I would go, but if they did the campaign and included Acrylic tokens similar to the prizes(don't want the prizes diminished so they would need to be different) I would be willing to pay more and would definately be all for it. Knowing FFG they could put two of each acrylic and sell thousands! Seriously though, it would need to come with several tokens to hook me.

I haven't gotten to play a campaign yet, but IT all depends on what It comes with.

It's possible that we might see a deluxe component upgrade sometime in the future if we consider that we are getting new dials for the factions. And bases.

FFG has put out scenario/campaign books for some of their other games so I can see coming out as well but I'd imagine it might be part of some boxed set so FFG can cram as much card board as they can inside. Just add in a new alternate colored ship or cards, and you have instant sales. I'm surprised we don't have a Poe ship yet!

I know it has been mentioned time and time again, but...I would love a scenario from EP IV. One Y-wing, an X, a couple of turbo laser turrets, would be a good source for the X-wing fix we have. Maybe let the imperials be the turrets in this, we did just get a revamp of Tie Adv and new Tie pilots. Could also be another source for the Y title and bomb load out.

I mean as long as we are dreaming.....right?

I'd be all over this like a fat kid on a cupcake. Especially if they put some of the key ships featured in the campaign in the pack as well.

I can't get too excited about cardboard tokens or a booklet but there's no way I'd be able to resist. I'll buy anything that they put out.

What I'd really really like is something similar to the Netrunner book that they're releasing / have released. A big, thick, hardback book full of glorious artwork and fluff. I wouldn't be able to part with my money for that fast enough!

As I frequently mention, I prefer mission and campaign formats rather than even skirmishes. I'd buy it with the same level of hesitation as any x-wing release. (None whatsoever).
