What kind of plastic are the X-wing miniatures made of?

By Xenomech, in X-Wing

I'm just curious about what kind of plastic the X-wing miniatures are made of. Polystyrene? ABS? Does anyone know for sure?

Recycled Attack Wing materials.

that's just....evil....

Could be a mix of styrene and abs. ABS for some of the hanging on parts because it's stronger.

And crack. It's a crack/plastic hybrid.

Seems to be a form of polystyrene.

I asked a white warlock he said it was made of winning...he may of been a tad high.

I guess an official answer is out of the question?

I'm curious as to why you'd wanna know. Got a plastic allergy? Does such a thing exist..?

Nutmeg scented aero-styrene with a contact release poly-morphine finish.

Proven fact. Look it up.

Ah, I didn't realize that. Thanks.

Do you have a 3D printer?

I heard that for paints, FFG uses Trekkie tears, no info on the plasic type though. Sorry...

Tried some plastic cement on it, but if it works at all it seems pretty slow. Less convinced that it's polystyrene now. If it was then you could get much better "welds" in the plastic.

Plastic cement has worked for me gluing the peg sockets back onto the bottom of ships, which makes me believe they're polystyrene (or at least those parts are) -- the plastic melted and re-bonded like I'd expect from polystyrene. It does take a while to set, but I believe that on non-polystyrene plastics, plastic cement won't form a bond at all and will just scrape off after it dries.
