Looking through my imperial stuff I came across Carnor jax.

Trying to build a list around him to combat Poe, a tie swarm, and a z-95 swarm. All of which I will be facing in a tourney soon. What are your thoughts? play around with this so far.

Another answer to Poe is Whisper, each time i play against Poe, he dies within 2 turns under Phantom fire.

Carnor isn't a Poe counter in my opinion as he doesn't prevent Poe from using his ability. I guess he could stop Poe from taking a focus action, but as Poe tends to have a PS of 10 I find that very unlikely

PS 11 Vader is your best bet. If poe had many real solid counters he wouldn't be poe. You can also take him out early with focused fire and hit him with stress and ion, preferably both. I find if you can get both on him he wilts but otherwise he's pretty indestructible.

Give vader VI and consider prockets. Then If you can strip a couple shields the turn before you'll have a real good chance of ending him outright before he can run off and recover. Jax you might consider VI too. I feel it compliments his ability better.

Jax is a good counter to Poe. So what if he's PS10? You just predict where he's going and end range 1 from there (and out of arc, preferably). Now he can either boost or target lock, but no focus!

Another good counter is blocking. No actions that way (And carnor can do that too if Poe is PS10 and Carnor PS8). Carnor can also be put to PS10, and with an initiative bid, can move after Poe if you are really worried about silly pilot skill.

Is Poe a bit overrated at this point? He's good yes, but he's not that mobile compared to many other aces, since he mostly wants to use VI he can only boost very carefully since it disables his ability. And if you block him he goes down you turn him into a normal X-70. It's not that hard.

Also many lists can just burn him down before he regenates, this will be more commong when ordnance gets a boost in wave 8.

I don't think poe is overrated. He usually has the equivalent of 10 hull give or take. Pretty good considering AGI 2, autothrusters and his ability.

That only happens if you are not focus firing on him. I think there are two ways to dealing with Poe when you see him across the table from you (and it depends on your list). You can either kill all of his support and then run away with what you have left and win on points when time is called. Or you can try to kill him early (easiest to do by denying his action and then focus firing with as many ships as possible). Even if he doesn't die immediately, putting him into 'run away' mode can be worth it. Depending on positioning, either a) take your strong position and use it to keep focus firing on Poe until dead or (b) since you don't have a good position to keep all guns on Poe, switch targets and let him run away. Regroup your squad and send it after Poe when he comes back (and this is where his regen becomes a significant factor).

Either concentrated fire or stress are good counters to Poe.

Carnor is good, because if he's positioned right he'll be stopping Poe taking the focus action, rather than spending the token.

The Omega Squadron Pilots are so-so - they're not bad, but without elite talents, they might as well be PS3 Zeta Squadrons - or even PS1 Epsilon Squadrons - which would save you enough points to give Vader an elite talent or an engine upgrade.

I like playing Jax with VI and Omega Leader with Juke and Comm Relay in the same list. Between them, they can completely shut Poe down. If Poe is carrying R5-P9 then parking Jax at range 1 nullifies his regen, and if he's got R2-D2 then he becomes very predictable where he will move, giving Omega Leader an easy chance to line up a shot.

Put an Assault Missile on Vader to break up the opposing TIE and Z swarms.

Last event I was at there were about a dozen players. Probably 6 VI Autothrusters Regen Super Poes there.

With Poe's pilot ability it's actually kind of hard to burn him down. So no, not 'many' lists can burn him down reliably before he can regenerate.

If you block him it's not a super big deal because he still gets shield regen.

Yeah well you kind of have to kind of commit if you want to burn down Poe. Either you burn him down in 1-2turns or he limps away and you likely loose.

It's been the same with Corran actually, Poe is just more resilent against multiple attacks (and he's cheaper so he has more support).

Palob.

Crack Shot swarms work very well against him. At the end of the day, you're firing at a 2-agility ship. It's not uncommon to get Poe down into his hull if you have enough shots.

Targeting Computer on Wampa make your chance to get a crit goes from 23.4% to 41.4%.
Lieut. Colzet allow you to flip the card that Wampa deal to Poe.


You could also drop Engine Upgrade on Vader to get 2 Black Squadron with Crackshot, but I don't know if it worth it.

I think that Palob and Wes Janson are both stronger counters for his ability than Carnor is.

For 17 points I think a TIE Shuttle with Intel Agent will be able to cause problems for Poe (spend another 3 to put Mara Jade on it).

The type of lists I play will often include ion specifically to deal with r2d2 carriers. Even a lowly 2 attack ship can beat him down if he's ionized.
