Sense Ongoing Effect

I read the Dev Q&A about Sense but I am still unsure if I am interpreting the Ongoing effects correctly.

If both rounds are taken to activate/commit the Ongoing control effects, do in essence then both the Ongoing control effects combine? Meaning the description would be:

Ongoing effect: Commit FD. Twice per tound, when an attack targeting the Force user he upgrades the difficulty of the pool twice and when the Force user makes a combat check he upgrades his ability of the check twice.

Yes?

And presuming a FR4, the player can commit 4FD and in effect have this ability stack up to 4 times?

To gain both the defence and offence benefits would require committing 2 Force Dice. But other wise you are correct, both would upgrade the dice twice and both could be activated twice a round (although your only able to attack once per round so your only actually able to use the combat check upgrade once per round).

Ok, so then this is more accurate then:

Ongoing effect: Commit [FD][FD]. Twice per round, when an attack targeting the Force user he upgrades the difficulty of the pool twice and when the Force user makes a combat check he upgrades his ability of the check twice.

So with a FR4, a player can commit all 4FD and have the above effect stack?

And if the player received the benefit of the Improved Field Commander, then they could potentially attack twice in a round.

That would be true (multiple dice committed to multiple upgrades, multiple times per round) were it not for the last sentence in the first two Control Upgrade paragraphs on p305. "The user may not activate this multiple times." It means that only one die may be committed to that particular Control Upgrade.

Each commit upgrade for all powers has language (at least in the F&D CRB) denoting whether it may be activated multiple times or not (i.e. allowed to commit multiple dice to a Control Upgrade).

When I first saw this, I thought it was finally an answer to my prayer for a reasonable way to avoid getting hit in this game. Sadly, I was incorrect. :(

You can only commit 1 die to each control upgrade, but both can be active at any given time since they are explicitly different. But it's a separate action for each control upgrade, so it's 2 actions to commit 1 Force Die for each Upgrade.

And yes, improved field commander is incredible and does allow 2 attacks in a round

Does committing two force dice for different abilities require seperate actions to do?

Yes.
