List choice for tournament next sunday

Hello :)

I'm a X-wing beginner but I've got all ships available (and some extra like 2x IG-2000/ 4x Y-wing / 2x K-wing...).

I tried Bossk+Boba / Palp+Vader+Soontir / Dash+Corran / Ig B+C / Kath+Latts.

All this lists were good but I don't actually find something I like more than other ; Vader is amazing, I love Dash and IG-2000 are good but nothing that shines in my heart.

In the actual TLT / stress meta, what do you think is the best to play for a club tournament (and for a beginner) ?

I have an idea but never tried it :

Nice list!

I think it could work fine. I'd rather not put VI on kath, but for someone who is new, it makes a lot of sense and helps to use the ion bombs effectively, so I wouldn't change it!

I think the best boba build is VI, tactician, glitterstim and engine upgrade. Thats 48 points of a durable and range1 friend big ship, remember that glitterstim + 2 enemies at range 1 makes boba almost invincible that turn.

From there id go and build a kath, a bossk or an ig. I would say that starting the better could be bossk, since you can build him with a lot of action economy and make him fly slow and steady and boba more aggresively.

I ran a very similar list (tactician on Bossk instead of weapon engineer) against a friend with Shuttle/VT-49/interceptor.

He had a lot of HP to remove but i won.

My problem is that I own all ships and I'm a beginner... I don't actually know what I want to play because I have too many choices :rolleyes:

It seems as though you're on the right path. Who knows? Maybe the ship for you is in the next wave? LOL

have a similar list to that too that i haven't had a chance to fly yet either. but i have tac on Bossk rather then weapons engineer

Yep, you can replace weapons engineer for tactician, i think weapons engineer is easier to get value from but i like tactician more.

You could even play inertial dampeners in case you want to doublestop, if you plan for this just realize that the turn you do the first 0 you get an eye, the turn you use ID you get nothing, the next 2 turns performing greens to clear stress you acquire TLs

Sounds like you should fly what you like and eventually you'll find your preferences. Or in other words fly your own lists.

On your list I think it's a solid choice since the firespray is one of my favorite ships. That said it might be a bit complex to learn The nuances of in a tournament. Trial by fire. I would like to see lonewolf or predator on Kath since she has no mods.

Also, K4 security droid on firesprays is exquisite. Large base greens usually get you where you want to go anyways, and you get a free TL out of the deal. Especially since you already have engines on both, a green followed by a boost will cover a lot of space and you don't miss out on dice manipulation by boosting.

It seems as though you're on the right path. Who knows? Maybe the ship for you is in the next wave? LOL

Now I have to choose between 4 lists (with possible changes) :

1 - World champion list : a good list to start with, I think it's a good one to try in a first tournament and learn a lot about the game

* Poe / VI / R2-D2 / autothrusters (38)

* Gold / TLT / R3-A2 / BTL-A4 (26)

* Gold / TLT (24)

* Z-95 (12)

2 - Palpmobile : good list with no big weakness but stress, more difficult to fly I think

* Shuttle / Palpatine / Tactical jammer (30)

* Vader / VI / TIE-X1 / ATC / engine upgrade (35)

* Soontir / royal guard / PTL / stealth device / autothrusters (35)

3 - Brobots : fast and deadly, but no turret, mid PS, few HP and sensible to stress (for a robot :rolleyes: ) if I make dial mistake I'm dead

* IG-88B / crackshot / HLC / FCS / autothrusters / glitterstim / IG-2000 (50)

* IG-88C / crackshot / HLC / FCS / autothrusters / glitterstim / IG-2000 (50)

4 - Bosska Fett : more HP, good firing arc but low maneuvrability, I think this one will struggle against arc dodgers that's why I put 2 tacticians and VI

* Bossk / VI / engine upgrade / K4 droid / tactician / outlaw tech /inertial dampeners (52)

I'd say the easiest to start off is the BosskaFett, got answer for aces with tactician good firepower and Boba can hold a turn against a mini swarm pretty easy. Boba is super maneuverable, bossk isnt that much maneuverable but a turn, engine and 180º firing arc makes it so you almost always got the enemy in arc.

PHeaver list i think is a little more tricky to pickup and requires practice, as well as Palpmobile where you kind of have to have a plan and arcdodge and that stuff, those ships burn quickly.

Brobots isnt that hard, but i think the plan to execute on a game is more complex and so the moves you got to do to play it right rather than the BosskaFett.

I'm playtesting alone all this lists and I find Brobots and Palp the 2 most effective at my level.

That was the 2 lists I won with when I tried them against some friends.

I'll take a run against Dash/corran to decide which one shines the most :)

Finaly I took the palp/vader/soontir list (99pts without tactical jammer) and finished at the 2nd place /10.

Very good for a first tournament against some experienced players, I just made a big mistake in the first game but won the 3 others ^_^
