Oicunn Ram + 4 Academy, solutions?

So this list has been wreaking havoc at the shop lately.

Oicunn + APL + Gunner + Mara Jade

4x Academies

He just rams the VT into a ship and spreads his own Ties out around the back of it to prevent people from moving away. It turns into this big fuster cluck and he comes out on top every time because no one is ready for this kind of "rugby" strategy.

I want to smoke him good and show him that his list is a one trick pony. Any tips?

I was thinking that since his whole list relies on that VT getting into a scrum I thought maybe some highly maneuverable aces might do the trick. He can't bump what he can't catch, and if I'm slogging him at R3 with secondaries then that fat old Deci isn't going to last long. Ionization can also mess with him pretty bad, so maybe something along the lines of an Ion Pulse Missile or two?

I agree that it looks like a 'one-trick-pony'. Lots of lists should be able to handle it.

BBBBZ loves clusterf*cks.

A pair of IG88s can murder those TIEs so fast, that they would be less likely to have much impact. 1v1, a single IG88 can easily smoke that decimator build (assuming you lost one, and that might not even happen).

Any imperial arc-dodging list should be able to win provided you don't get blocked (not easy, but not impossible).

Old fashioned TIE swarm (7 or 8 TIE fighters) should also do well, since they can kill the decimator so quickly, and as long as you don't lose more than 2 or 3, should be able to out-joust the opposing academies.

I'm sure there's others...

Heheh, forgot to mention what I have...

I play Imps and Rebs. I figure, why choose? Fly both!

I don't have enough Ties for a swarm, but do have a nasty little 4 ship named Imp squad featuring Vader and Soonts.

For Rebels I just have one of each ship pretty much. No K-Wing though...

And sadly... no Scum. Not until the MH comes out anyways!

Missiles and Bombs.

A couple Assault Missiles at long range will destroy his whole squadron since range 1 from the Decimator is a huge portion of the play area. Cluster missiles should be able to destroy it in 1 turn. If you wanted to do a quad Accuracy Corrector Advanced list.

This seems exactly the kind of list I'd want to send my Punishers up against.

Blount with ion pulse followed with b/y torpedo alpha strike should make him think twice

Ion weapons should do nicely. Specifically, Y-wings with Ion Cannon Turrets might be nice - you can shoot him without going head-on.

If you have a phantom, you might want to try TIE mini-swarm w/ whisper:

Whisper w/ VI, FCS, ACD & rebel captive = 42 (with rebel captive, he won't want to shoot her and will probably go after TIEs first, which is what you want)

Then go with either:

Howlrunner + 3 obsidians (to try and PS kill the academies)

Or,

Howlrunner w/ hull ugrade + 3 academies (at 99 points, you take initiative to block his academies, so yours have actions and his don't)

your 4 TIES are superior to his 4 TIES, so just trade em for each other. Whisper can solo Oicunn (but whatever you do, keep her out of R1 from oicunn!)

So many good ideas here I think I may have to clip a wing for a bit so I can try them all out!

I guess it's really not the hardest thing to beat is it? A good whack of ordnance would do the trick nicely. I just so happen to have picked up another B-Wing, so FCS and torpedoes on that, maybe I'll do something like this?

Also, I got an E-WIng... Adv. Sensors seemed fun...

Anyways the idea here is somewhat as suggested, but now I'm also playing into the VT's own silly game, though with a twist that hopefully puts me out on top.

Etty is gonna AS and zoom right into the Deci and block it. The B-Wings close behind ready to bump on the E-Wing. Everyone has actions despite the bumpin' an' grindin' and I think it's enough firepower/hull total to survive. The only thing that worries me is the Ties. Can the E-Wing with AS parked in front of the Deci take on 4 Ties?

I could also throw down some mean Ion control. Blount isn't even needed to put the IPM on the VT, and I think you'll only need to Ionize the Decimator once to really put her out of her ramming arc and even a pinwheel of 4 Ties can be thrown right off by even one Ion token.

what about trying typical 'Panic Attack' strategy using 3 blue squadron b-wings with tactician and a stresshog using ICT? Would deal stress limiting movement and making him predictable, and the stress hog will immobilise the decimator every other turn provided constant fire, as well as swamping it with stress

Stresshog, 2x FCS Blues, and Biggs, because Biggs. Also thought about swapping Biggs for an AM equipped Z-95, just to get some splash damage on those Ties straight off.

The Stresshog is going to jam the VT-49, because zero evade ships hate special effect weapons. He might get tricky and throw in some more goodies, and if possible I'd like to shut that down right from the start. If I can just concentrate the large ship down as quickly as possible, then the Ties will be no problem. I play a 4 Tie list too except my list is just 4 Ties (of various sorts!) so I know what to do with that little block of fighters. Except only I play the whole game with only 4 Ties! LOL! And win!

I'm really getting to like these FCS equipped B-Wings. Maybe once guidance chimps come out I'll go out and get me a barrel of them and do up a B-Wing list with Adv. Protons. THAT would totally smoke this list into oblivion!

edit: I realized also that if I swapped Biggs for a Tala Squadron Pilot + AM, I have enough points to bump everyone up to PS 4, and still have a trolltastic 3 point init bid. Now that, my friends, is how you start the tear-keg a rollin.

Drop a bunch of Advanced with Accuracy Correctors and Cluster Missiles.

Not only will the Decimator go down by turn 2 of combat (latest), you're not awful against other match-ups.

Make him come get you. Drag his crew through the asteroids and try to stay towards the rear of the VT-49 that should make it hard for Oicunn to ram anything.

Bombs all the way...clusters, proximity or even ion bombs to make those TIEs block themselves would work. Also...nothing else to add to the great comments above, Darkcloak one is a good point, stresshog him and put 3 damage per round with a BTL Y Wing, or go the BH way with 2 firesprays.
