Specific vehicle analogs

By zypher, in Game Masters

Looking to use some good ole d6 vehicles in my upcoming game. I could just makeup the stats, but finding a vehicle that's similar enough is preferable.

The Ultra-Light Assault Vehicle: also known by the acronym ULAV, was a type of small repulsorcraft employed by the Alliance to Restore the Republic during the Galactic Civil War. Only able to stay in low atmosphere, it was used for supporting slower troops, ULAVs were equipped with two laser cannons and a single rear-mounted turret.

The New Republic Scout and Retrieval Vehicle (or SRV-1): a treaded vehicle used by the New Republic shortly after the Battle of Endor. It was driven by two soldiers, in addition to two mannable turrets above the cockpit. It was capable of carrying up to eight soldiers, or three metric tons.

I'm going to pour over my books today and tomorrow.. but if you guys can think of anything off the top of your head, it'd be appreciated.

I've got those statted up in my roll20, I'll post em when I get a chance. Offhand both vehicles are essentially modified landspeeder and speeder truck stats respectively. The SRV uses it's bulk for defense and the ULAV is stupid flimsy

I think the only oddball item is the pathetic forward cannons on the ULAV...

I also put together the ULAV, but if you just want similar counterparts, you might use the Flash Speeder (found in Suns of Fortune) for the ULAV, and the Dray light speeder truck (found in Force and Destiny) with a weapon mounted on it for the SRV-1.

Fortunately I'm the GM in this scenario and I don't need them to be overly cool, since I'm effectively giving them to the players.. If they want something fancier they can work for it.

Well the SRV and ULAV are certainly the right vehicles then...

Here's what I cooked up for my campaign. Bear i mind I wasn't too concerned about Hardpoints as the setting in my campaign makes attachment acquisition a little difficult, so anything they could get I wanted them to be able to make use of. Also everything was roughed over from WEG, so certain things didn't quite match up and I just had to kinda eye-ball it. Normally I go down instead of up, but I went kinda big this time since I knew what the campaign finale would involve, and being up-gunned a little made more sense then undergunning.

SRV-1

Sil 3, Speed 1, Handling -2, Armor 1, HT 8, SS 8

Crew: 1 Driver, 1 Assistant Driver, 2 Gunners

Passengers: 8 (in bed)

Cargo: 60ish (without Passengers)

Sensors: Close

Altitude:-

HP:3

Weapons: 2 Heavy Blaster Cannons (1 FRB, 1FLB), Damage 4, Crit 5, Range Close Gunnery. (Can drop these down the light, or even some thing custom lower)

ULAV

Sil 2, Speed 3, Handling 1, Armor 0, HT 6, SS 6

Crew 1 Driver, 1 Gunnger

HP 3

Sensors Close

Enc 6

Max Altitude: .6m

Weapons:

Twin Foward Light Blaster Cannons: Dam 4, Crit 4, Close, Linked 1 (Dumbing these down to Damage 2 would be totally understandable if you want to use the original presentation).

Forward Concussion Grenade Launcher: Damage 10, Crit 4, Extreme, Blast 8, Breach 1, Ammo 6, Personal Scale

Medium Laser Cannon (BLR) Damage 6, Crit 3, Close. (The range on WEG block had this weapon well below the reach of "heavy laser cannons" so a Range:short weapon didn't really fit. You could opt to go with a heavy blaster cannon as well if you also reduce the nose guns and still have a weapons loadout roughly on par with the original)

Salt to taste, but at least that's a little less legwork for ya.

Thank you! Last week my current GM told me his game would be coming to a close shortly, and he greenlighted me to get ready to run mine. I thought I was prepared, but as soon as the reality of having to actually DO this dawned on me, I've been scrambling to take care of all the little details. This is my 2nd most complex gaming endeavor to date.

That's 2 things less I have to search around for. I think I will make the SRV w one less armor, one more speed, and lighter guns.. more of a light mobile scout troop transport. Doesn't sound like I'm gonna have any driver types in my party, so it's probably going to mainly be used by an NPC to drive the PCs to places.

The ULAV is perfect. You rock!

No prob, good luck, let us know if ya need anything else.

Hey ghost, ever cook up stats fotr a STAP or Bespin Airhook? My thought for the STAP was to just use the arakyd and increase the max altitude, maybe use the civilian version for the airhook but increase ceiling to like 100 km (same as cloud car). Just curious on your take if you had one.

Haven't had a need for a STAP just yet, but I'd probably do almost exactly what you said. I'd probably have fun with the weapons though, give it something like linked blaster rifles or something weird like that.

Cool. That being said, using this scene as the highest I've seen them go, what would you put as the flight ceiling? I was thinking 150 meters, but I'm very bad at perspective and distance.
