I took part in another 100 point tournament in Milton Keynes run by The Guardians Of Tyr yesterday. I believe there was 29 players who attended in total. This was my 3rd tournament here, having had a 10th and 3rd place finish so far.
The List:
Poe Dameron - Veteran Instincts, R5P9 & Autothrusters
Blue Squadron Pilot - Fire Control System x 2
Prototype Pilot - Chardaan Refit
The overall plan was the B-wings would supply the accurate heavy firepower, the A-wing would help block and be a distraction. Poe would hopefully help deal with aces like Soontir and the like.
Game 1 vs Kath Scarlett & 2 x TLT Y-wings
My first game was against the same opponent I played first last time out. I had won that match in a fun and brutal game. I closed in on the opposing ships through the centre of the table between some asteroids whilst my opponent skirted the outskirts of the rocks. Fire was exchanged and I believe I knocked out a y-wing in a couple of rounds of shooting in exchange for my a-wing dropping to a single hull. The last y-wing was chased into the corner by my b-wings and I lost a b-wing in exchange for the y-wing. Up to this point Kath had not been in the fight too much, but when my wounded a-wing was caught in the rear arc I feared the worst, however somehow no shots got through and the a-wing fled to save itself. Kath was chased into the corner and had I picked a bank manoeuvre I could have forced it off the table edge. However the Firespray slipped through my ships arcs and fled.
Win 50-24
Game 2 vs N'dru with Cluster Missiles, 2 x Black Sun Aces & 2 x Binayre Pirates
This was my third match against Luke, with me having won and lost one. All my ships headed straight ahead to joust with the Z-95's & Kihraxz's directly opposite. N'dru flanking in the middle. My memories a little hazy, but I believe I took out a Z-95 and Kihraxz in exchange for the A-wing.
Poe was then subsequently ganged up on and was destroyed by a combination of Cluster Missiles and the glitterstimmed Kihraxz. The B-wings then avenged Poe by taking out the last Kihraxz and N'dru. However it then took multiple shots to finally take down the most unkillable Z-95 I've ever faced. It just wouldn't die! This experience was to be a foreshadowing of things to come....
I think Luke did get either a 2nd or 3rd place, so this was a good win for me.
Win 100-52
Game 3 vs Soontir & 3 Tie Advances With Accuracy Correctors
And this is where it went downhill. The accuracy correctors ripped through my B-wings and pretty soon they had been taken out. With the advances having only lost 3 shields in total, my red dice only giving me 1-2 hits, which were constantly evaded. I did have a range 1 shot in the back of Soontir with Poe, but again no hits went through. The rest of the game was fairly uneventful with no more ships being destroyed. My opponent had yet to lose a ship so far.

Game 4 vs Poe with VI, R2D2 & Autothrusters, Miranda with TLT & 3PO & a TLT Y-wing
This was my second game against Flint, with me having won the last time. To start I lost my A-wing in the opening exchange with some shocking green dice and very poor positioning by me. I manage to drop the y-wing, but lost both my B-wings. I had a range 1 shot on the y-wing with Poe, but I boosted to get into range 1, so had no focus and of course I rolled 3 eyes and a blank, so no hits went through. I did mange to drop Miranda down to 1 hull, but couldn't hit Miranda enough to overcome the regen. Good fun game though.

Game 5 vs Palob with Predator, TLT & Moldy Crow, Guri with Sensor Jammer, Autothrusters & Predator & 2 x Black Sun Soldiers
So I was hoping to stop the slump and hopefully manage a 3-2 overall. However things seemed to get worse. A range 1 B-wing shot against the HWK produced nothing, the same happened against a Z-95. Whilst Guri and Palob's predator re-rolls were awesome, turning blanks to hits and crits every time and my green dice had no answer. Poe was the first to disappear, I drew the console fire crit, so I had to use my action to clear it to avoid certain death. However with no focus, I was exposed and blown to pieces. It was then downhill from there. The HWK could have been taken out, but as mentioned survived the range 1 shot. Pretty soon I was wiped out with me having taken out a solitary Z-95.
Lost 13-100
So in the end I finished with a 2-3 record and 21st out of 29. After seeming to improve in recent tournaments, this has shown I still have much to learn. I didn't use Poe well at all, and struggling to get good hits through with him. I rarely fly aces, so my need to get some practive in with them. Also a lack of practice with the list itself didn't help. It's only 2 weeks until the next tournament, so hopefully I can put in a good showing there. I think I may even fly some T-65's!
