Imperial Fleet - upcoming Tournament

By TheEasternKing, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Hello everyone,

As a long time lurker of these boards, I decided to finally create an account, and ask for some feedback on a couple of builds I am toying around with for a tournament.

First up :

Imperial Fleet (388/400)

Commander : Admiral Screed

Imperial II (187pts) (Flagship)

Intel Officer

Gunnery Team

Phylon Q7 Tractor Beams

ECM

SW-7 Ion Batteries

X17 Turbolasers

Relentless

Gladiator I (92pts)

Demolisher

Raider I (56pts)

Director Isard

Assault : Advanced Gunnery Defense : Fleet Ambush Navigation : Minefields

Second Fleet :

Imperial Fleet (387/400)

Commander : Admiral Screed

Raider I (84pts) (flagship)

Admiral Montferrat

Boba Fett (26pts)

Firespray-31 (18pts)

Firespray-31 (18pts)

Firespray-31 (18pts)

Assault : Most Wanted Defense : Hyperspace Assault Navigation : Superior Positions

Fleet 3 is basically the same as Fleet 2, minus the squadrons and an extra raider.

Any thoughts or input would be greatly appreciated.

A possible variation over the first fleet above would be :

Imperial Fleet (387/400) (fleet build4)

Commander : Admiral Screed

Victory I (136pts) (Flagship)

Wulff Yularen

Ordnance Experts

X17 Turbolasers

Rapid Reload

Dominator

Gladiator I (92pts)

Intel Officer

Ordnance Experts

Engine Techs

ACM

Demolisher

Raider I (53pts)

Ordnance Experts

APT

Raider I (53pts)

Assault : Advanced Gunnery Defense : Fleet Ambush Navigation : Minefields

Downgrading the Imperial II to a Victory I, allows me to take a 5th ship, and putting Wulff on Dominator means round 1 getting a repair token, then keeping it for the rest of the game, and getting 6 RPs each Repair Command, allowing you to freely use Dominator, the rapid reload takes the side arcs up to 2 red, 2 blue(Dominator), 2 black (+1 dice for a conc fire), for a pretty nasty double arc combo, which I should be able to set up, 387pts stands an excellent chance of getting first player.

The downside is no ECM, less HPs, Less speed, Less maneuverability, and 1 less anti squadron dice.

What do you think?

If Screed is your commander you are unlikely to need the ordnance experts everywhere.

If Screed is your commander you are unlikely to need the ordnance experts everywhere.

I have found using Screed along with Ordnance Experts, allows you to reroll dice even when you have damage results, to try and get Hit&Crit results, with no worries on rolling blanks.

For instance last game I played, Front Arc of a Raider I, I rolled 2 blue, 2 black dice, Blue were Hit, and a Accuracy, Black die were, 1 hit, 1 hit, I rerolled both black die, and they came up Hit & crit, and a Hit, Having Screed changed that from a 25% chance per die to gain one, or lose one, to a flat 25% chance to gain one, 0% chance to lose one, obviously this only works with 2 black dice, but being able to reroll 4 black dice that came up blanks (Screed only allows one dice to become 2 damage here.) is good insurance for 4 points.

Also they apply to the Raiders Anti fighter dice, giving them rerolls on black dice drastically increases the chances of dealing 2 damage per Squadron you fire at.

Having got to use each of these fleets in the last few days, I have decided it will be fleet one for the tournament.

It was a really hard choice between Fleet One, and Fleet Four, Fleet 4 has 5 ship activations, which gave me a significant edge over the 4 rebel ships I was facing, and that Vic one can pump out a huge amount of damage at PBR, the downside is it spends shields like no tomorrow to do so, with no ECM this can be a huge gamble, if you annihilate what you are shooting at, you can get a round of repairs in, if you do not however it can cost you the ship, which is what happened last night, losing Screed was not a huge issue due to the Ordnance Experts, still why give away 136 points in a tournament game? doesn't make sense right?

So Fleet one will be the one I will take to the local store Tournament next weekend, hopefully it will work well, any major issues I discover with it, I will update the thread with.
