Long Time GM Looking to PC for a Change...

By Farth Dader, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Hey fellow nerds and geeks,

I have been running swrpg campaigns for a couple years now, looking to find a group to play with, but not GM. Just want to play and not write for a change. I am currently running a campaign every other sunday, but other than that my schedule is very open. I live in Minnesota and would love to find a group near the twin cities or the twin ports to play with in person or any kind of online thing. I have RPTools on the computer, would throw down for roll20, or would play in a post by post forum.

I have lots of experience with the rules, have no problem with house rules as long as they don't ruin the fun, very easy going laid back personality. I would love to play really any kind of pc, have a few concepts I really want to try, but am willing to adapt to any campaign. Most of my splat materieal is related to EotE, but have some AoR and FaD stuff as well...

If anyone is looking for a fill in, sub, or full time player let me know, I am willing to play weekly, as long as it works with my schedule (I work mon-fri from 4am to 2pm, sometimes 4pm in the summer). I will even go through an interview process if need be!!!

Welcome to the gm curse. Wish I had a slot for Ya I usually try to get people who gm because this unique problem.

I also carried the curse of the eternal GM until recently. Now, mind you, I did play in some games earlier but because I am always the go-to GM it was standard practice for me to be shadow GM and constantely asked rules question. I also tended to be overtly critical of my GM but this time it's different. The GM is knowledgeable, a funny guy and above all a good story teller who thinks on the fly. It is a blast and I am liking it as much as I do GMing.

For many years now, I have only been a player. I’m old enough that I should be a good GM, but I don’t feel that I am. So, I chose to only be a player.

Recently, the much younger guy who was the GM for our F&D campaign had to bow out due to work issues, and if the game was going to live on then someone needed to take over. I chose to be the person to take over, and it hasn’t been as bad as I had feared.

We had been down to just three main players plus the GM, and when Stuart had to bow out, it was just me and the two other guys. But now Stuart has been able to come back to the game as a player, and two other guys who had been in our game a while back have since returned, and we might even have another new guy join us.

I still feel like I’m crawling around on the ground and have not yet graduated to walking, but I am having a measure of fun while stretching my brain and my ability to quickly switch back and forth between tasks, and the players seem to also be having fun. But I will keep checking in with them to make sure.

And I will make very heavy use of the resources here, to help me with ideas on how to handle things.

With luck, the OP may be able to find someone else to take over as GM in his area, and then he can rest for a while.

Farth.. i might be starting up another group on roll 20 soon. i am waiting to hear back from some people, but i may have a spot or two actually. I can let you know if you are still available, im sure your experience would be invaluable. :)

Very cool Ruakar, I would be extremely interested. I am available!!! Just let me know if you have a spot and we can work it out! Thanks for letting me know! I will throw down some money for the roll20 subscription, or pick up my own if you have to many accounts linked already, I am pumped to check it out, heard it is a great tool!!! Good luck and let me know if you want me on the roster!

Farth, I'm about to start an Edge of the Empire Play-by-post on Google+, if you are interested. It should be pretty laid back, just asking those playing to post at least once a day. We are going to use SWSheets.com for character sheets and http://orokos.com/roll/for the dice rolls.

Let me know if you are interested. I have one slot open!

I feel your pain in regards to GM burnout. Our group alternates between two GM's in our campaign. That allows us to each get some play time and then swap when the story arc ends. Even with that though I sometimes just want to be the player and not think about game creation.

I'd invite you to join us but there's the commute from Minnesota to Washington state every week would be a bit much.

Hi - I live in Minneapolis. Still looking for a group?

Also might be starting something up. And I'm hoping to include a few gm's so we can switch it up!
