I most definitely like it. Put on Boba works great. Imo.
Outmaneuver. Worth the points? - let's discuss.
Worth the point, not sure.
But today, I faced a player with Outmaneuver on Jake and it did works and made my Poe life much harder. So, there might be a place for it.
I feel it is more worth it on 2 Atk ships rather than 3 Atk ships. It was my go to EPT on Vader before the title came out.
I've had success with it on Ello Asty. I feel it compliments his white t-roll well.
Same price as Predator, which provides a similar (but more consistent) boost in damage output on most ships.
I do like it on Green Squadron A-Wings, it makes them a lot more threatening against turret ships. It synergizes nicely with autothrusters and 2 attack dice.
My favorite place for outmaneuver is Whisper. With an Intel Agent and Fire-Control Systems, you can take a Focus action and REALLY lay the hurt on anything. I love stacking F + TL + defense reduction (see also CrackBots).
I love it when somone I'm facing puts it on wedge, I know it's useless against 40% of the ships in the game and requires me to ignore a third of my opponents list to be effective. I can't imagine taking it on anytbing other than echo and I'm not talented enough to fly her.
Fun for A wings, since they can already PTL or predator.
If you consistently have both TL and focus ready to go, sure. Otherwise, best you focus and put on predator.
Wedge Antilles (33) - X-Wing
Outmaneuver (3), R2 Astromech (1), Integrated Astromech (0)
Tarn Mison (27) - X-Wing
R2-D6 (1), Outmaneuver (3)
"Leebo" (40) - YT-2400
Determination (1), "Mangler" Cannon (4), Nien Nunb (1)
I ran this the other day and Outmaneuver was really nice. I was facing a Lamda, Sointer, and Vader. Leebo ran down the middle and Wedge and Tarn came from the sides and crushed the Lamda. And I was able to trigger outmaneuver a few times on the two aces after
IIRC predator with two rerolls is better than outmaneuver. Outmaneuver is better than predator with one reroll if outmaneuver triggers.
You need to make outmaneuver work while predator always works.
If you're colonel Vessery, or scum Boba Fett, or (thing that already gets re-rolls), outmaneuver is golden. Otherwise predator is just so handy.
Predator is flat out better on 3 attack ships and works every time. I was suprised to learn that outmaneuver is better on 2 attack ships if you can trigger it everytime. The math i used was based on the defender having 2 defense dice and not using an action on defense.
Turn your ship into a pseudo-Wedge for 3 points? It's a good upgrade, priced well, but it's real downside is the opportunitiy cost in taking up an Elite Talent slot, a slot packed with amazing alternatives.
Generally, the more maneuverable your ship is, the better value you'll get out of it... but TIE Interceptors are always going to prefer Push the Limit.
A-Wings have the luxury of being able to slot it in alongside Push the Limit, but then it starts to become very pricey. Jake Farrell might be able to get away with it instead of Push The Limit, though.
IG-2000's? Might work... but again, the alternatives are such good value.
It is absolutely worth the points. I love using it on Royal Guard Interceptors. It is especially good in lists where you want your opponent to have to really think about who they want to attack first. A go-to list of mine is two of them with Rexler Brath. If people go for the point-laden Brath, they get outmaneuvered. If they turn towards the interceptors to negate Outmaneuver, Brath bites into them. If they split their forces to engage both, then what I usually do is just as engagement looks likely, I take very fast maneuvers to rush past them and engage the opposite formation. Additionally, it tends to chew turret-reliant lists up, as turret ships are some of the easiest ships in the world to successfully Outmaneuver, both due to their dial and the way the player is flying them. It also makes your life easier when you absolutely know that they won't get an evade die, if you already roll ok and want to save a focus token for a risky defensive round. You roll two hits and a focus? You already know two are getting through no matter what, that decision is already made. If you're in at least two arcs or turret ranges, the decision to save that token becomes easier. That "I absolutely know my opponent can't dodge this" effect is one major advantage it has over Predator. Also it shuts C-3P0 down completely.
