Watching discussions about "Acewing" and the "PS bidding war" and this thread ((https://community.fantasyflightgames.com/topic/198373-small-list-of-native-ps9/)), where some stated we do not need that many different PS values in the game, i got intrigued.
So I compiled the so far known PS values, which means the so far published + the spoiled ones. This gives a slight skew to the data, as we know already the Dengar card, but not totally sure if the other pilots of the Jumpmaster have EPTs, so I excluded those 3.
Also: no guarantee, that this is error free, I might have made misses (after all thats just for fun, and not for a paper).
First out histograms (frequency of PS: #pilots within a certain PS skill) for all pilots.
As you see we have nice bell curve in the total diagram (upper right), the distribution of all pilots.
Looking at the factions (to the left):
(unfortunately I have right now neither Statistica or SPSS or R and the likes of them, so I had to contend with Excel, thus observe that the scale of the three is not exactly the same!)
Rebels have many 2/4/6/8, are relatively even.
Empire more like a bell curve, with a down bump in 5, and up-bumo in 6.
Scum many 5/6/7. Seem to dislike 4 (4 i japanese can mean "death", Yakuzan death threat by giving you 4 fillings in your glass)
.
The last to lower right is a comparison of all 3 factions, corrected for the number of pilots within a faction.
Next out all pilots with EPTs (and only those, no pilots without EPT included):

Again a nice bell curve in the total graph (upper right), whole curve more to the right (few EPT for low skill pilots, more in the high skill ones).
The factions are more uneven.

The last ones: Almost all PS values you can encounter, means the normal ones + the ones elevated by VI + temporary Roark 12. Unfortunately no Torkil included, would give a temporary 0 skill to all factions.

Shows e.g. that Scum has lower ranking aces. Something that would be difficult, if you only had 3 or 5 different values as suggested in other threats.
As we do not know the Adaptability rules yet, this is not included.
Very interesting.
However,
Empire EPT is off in the 4 value. There are 4 ships with Ept, not 3.
Black Squadron TIE Fighter
Omega Squadron Pilot TIE F/O Fighter
Saber Squadron Pilot TIE Interceptor
Captain Oicunn VT-49 Decimator
Also I want to mention this even though I'm aware you may have purposefully dismissed it, Empire has a ship that is PS 12 if undamaged (TIE/fo Epsilon Ace). I know that's not the same as being PS 12, but I just wanted to mention it anyway I suppose...
Edited by That One GuyHey this is pretty cool! Great job, its cool to see that. Almost makes it look like theres a reason for every ships pilot skill in regards to the total amount of pilots
Dang it man. Put your comparative graphs on the same scale for ease of comparison. Looking with scales of 12, 15, and 10 makes that first display look more comparable than it is.

OP already addressed that, the only program he has available won't let him do it.

You can adjust the scales in Excel as desired. But I'm not complaining. This is very interesting. Thanks!
This is really fascinating. Well done!
Helps show just how so many Scum aces end up welded to VI, too - that cliff at PS 7 vs 8 is pretty notable.
I'm curious how you've got a Rebel ship hitting PS 12, though. Have I missed something?
EDIT: Oh wait, Roark's shooting phase, nevermind.
The TIE/Fo can do it though! ![]()
Got me, forgot the TIE F/O Ace. (Have no F/O ships, easy to miss something on ships you not fly yourself!)
I will update/correct this once Punishing One is out.
