Advice what to buy next for rebel?

By TerTer, in X-Wing

Hello there,

today i bought my first things in xwing. So that's Old Core set, new Core set and 2x z-95. As my hobbyshops did not have much else to offer. (Shop has still b-wing and rebel aces, YT-2400).

So now i want to order online some more stuff to have more options. What would you suggest?

I had the idea to order T70 and E-Wing.

Also worst is A, K and Y wings looks like are out of stock. :)

First, welcome! Prepare to be overloaded with responses in a few minutes here...

First off, buy what you think looks fun to you. You'll be happiest, and baring a few outliers, pretty much anything is flyable in casual play.

That said, you asked for opinions, so here goes. For rebels, Rebel Aces is pretty good, A-wings are waaaay better with the upgrades in there, and the B-wing stuff gives you come cool options. Plus the best A-wing pilot (Jake Farrell) is in there anyway. If you want to throw some red dice a people, generic B-wings are a good way to do that. The T-70 cool, probably the best pilots are the top 2 named (Poe and Ello), and the T-70 expansion comes with a good upgrade that works on the old T-65s as well (Integrated Astromech). Can't go wrong there.

At some point when they're available you'll probably want a K-wing, Miranda in particular is pretty good, and the Twin Laser Turret upgrades are pretty good. Also Wave 8 should be out in a few weeks, the Rebels will be getting the Ghost expansion, which comes with a VCX-100 and an Attack shuttle (from the Rebels tv series if you've seen it). Looks like it should be fun to fly, time will tell if it's tournament level competitive (not sure if that's something you're interested in).

Whatever you want.

Is the Hwk-290 for rebels worth buying? :) Any good lists with it?

Yes, the hwk is worth buying. Lots of good lists you could try with your xwings and hwk.

Hwk is pretty hard to fly but nifty. If you look at the y wing dial and immediately think "I WISH THIS WOULD SUCK MORE" it's definitely your ship.

YT-2400 has some neat options. Large ship that can barrel roll and fire cannon in all directions with the title.

HWK-290 is a support ship. The named pilots have some abilities that can confound your enemies.

Roark Garnet combined with ships running Swarm Tactics,

Kyle Katarn handing out focus tokens to T-70 X-wings with Weapons Guidance,

Jan Ors giving an extra attack die to a ship running an unblockable attack like Autoblaster, or to an ace that has a lot of dice modification already.

If you buy Rebel Aces, it comes with the B-wing/E2 title and Jan Ors(crew)

Give your T-70 X-wings Comm Relay, and have Jan Ors on a B-wing/E2 change focus tokens to Evade tokens that they get to keep until needed.

Comm relay only comes in the TIE/fo Fighter expansion, though.

K-wing comes with Twin Laser Turrets, and has some ok builds. I'd get at least 1. HWK-290 can equip those TLTs.

I would only get E-wing for the upgrade cards it has, another T-70 X-wing is probably a good grab.

the T-70 expac does have Asty

Asty is sorta fun

(Push the Limit, Bb-8, autothrusters):

I fly him and Poe in a list

Poe (veteran instincts, r5-p9, auto-thrusters) [37]

Asty (push the limit, bb-8, auto-thrusters) [37]

26 points of stuff (2 tala squadron)

to adjust for upgrades that you won't have for a while (thrusters only in star viper, veteran instincts only in Firespray), assuming you don't want to proxy of course

Poe (r2-d2) [35]

Asty (bb-8) [32]

share the single copy of integrated between both pilots

this leaves 33 points, which is an easy split between a Bandit Z-95 and a Rookie X-wing

so that's if you like X-wings, otherwise I think Rebel Aces is the more secure buy

I'm told t-70`s are already scarce if you want one grab it sooner rather than later, you can safely only buy one e-wing those arnt gonna run out any time soon the named pilots are good but the generics are bad.

But yeah buy what takes your fancy when your starting don't worry about being competitive.
