Y wings, protorps, chips and ion turrets

So, i love Y-wings, so thought i'd try them with the new guidance chips.

They come in fairly pricey, but i want to try it out before changing it up and try the same with autoblaster turrets and using the leftover points to give the 3rd Y protontorps/EM .

Idea is to get a good alpha strike with the named Y-wings, and ion the leftovers when they get behind me, wich should give me an estra turn to turn around/get in position.

Left the stressbot out because i want to be able to fire all around me instead of through my arc. Didn't use TLT either, because if they have TLT's, the ordnance never gets used ;)

Still going back and forth between R7-T1 and R5-K6 on vander, with the latter giving me an initiative bid of 1. Both work well with his pilot ability.

This won't win any championships and i know that, but i like my all Y wing builds, even if they get smeared all over the place!

So, as expected The Y wings got obliterated :lol:

Was down to bad luck actually, and very poor dice rolls. Played against howlrunner with swarm tactics/stealth device+ 3 academies +2 ps 1 interceptors with autothrusters.

Guidance chips did nothing for me, shot two proton torpedoes, and after salm's re-roll and a good roll on the second one, both came out as 4 hits/crits so no problems there.

Salm got of the first torpedo against the leading academy, re-rolled with his ability and got 4 hits, academy rolled 3 evades and had an evade token :wacko:

After that he lost his shields and got one crit, wich happened to be 'damaged cockpit', wich left him a sitting duck against all the PS1 tie pilots. he got killed off the next turn.

Gold squadron pilot got a few hits in with primaries at range 1, but was picked off by howlrunner and two tie fighters.

Dutch gave them a good scrap though, thrashing an interceptor and dealing a crit to the other squint. He also shot a torp at howlrunner getting 2 hits and 2 crits, and she rolled 1 evade and became a fireball.

After that the remaining ships focus fired poor dutch into oblivion.

Didn't get a single ion token on anything the entire game, and made about 10 shots. That's what lost it for me, just poor dice rolling when i needed the hits.
