Not as clumsy or random as a cardboard arc checker....
Unless it makes a wooshing sound when it moves... it is a failed project.

Yes.
Where do I get one?

Woishing Whooshing wub wump sounds are the next step, going to fit it with either a plecter labs soundcard ...or just break apart a force fx from target for parts.
It's a prank you play on the new guy.
Poe: "Where's Finn?"
Snap Wexley: "PZ-4CO sent him looking for a hyperspace sextant."
Everyone: "LOL"
Did they really make a diagram of a box?

Do not underestimate the power of merchandising.

Yeah, its the same arc laser that everyone gets from harbor freight.fitted into a replica graphlex saber hilt.
Isn't the box the same box that Ben kenobi pulls out when he gives the lightsaber to luke?

THAT would be interesting.... Now I need to watch IV again.... Sigh
I found a discussion on the chest with screenshots from A New Hope here: http://scifi.stackexchange.com/questions/111847/is-the-chest-in-maz-kanata-s-basement-the-same-chest-as-the-one-in-obi-wan-kenob
As cool an idea as it is, they're clearly different chests.
Sorry to rain on the parade.
Got to say, that's actually pretty **** cool.
As to the entire "is that Ben's chest" thing, now you've mentioned it I actually wondered what happened to all Ben's stuff when he left Tatooine. Who knows what kind of cool Jedi relics he might have had knocking around in his cave...
I'm sure much like an actual sextant, but keeping track of more celestial movements, coupled with estimatin distance (and time). Betting a device before the introductions of Astromechs and nav-computers. Probably resulted in a lot of lost ships, and shorter jumps.

You destroyed the sacred weapon of a Jedi just to make a toy out of it? BLASPHEMY!
Wouldn't it be a bit of a bother holding it up trying to check the arcs? You wouldn't be holding it horizontally then after all.

It's fitted in tightly and the button is pressed by an extension to the switch....it works at any angle.the pictures are just that way for ease of one handed photographing.
