Poe, Nera & a Hog

By Anjun, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hello,

I plan to go to a store championship late in february (so wave 8 should be available) and started working on a List.

This is what I got so far:

Poe ('normal' loadout, 38 points)

R2-D2, CrackShot (or Vet. Instincts), Autothrusters

Nera (swiss army knife, 36 points)

Vet. Instincts, Fire Control System, Proton Torpedos + Extra Munitions, Guidance Chi(m)ps and Tractor Beam (got a spare point ;) )

Stresshog (26 points)

BTL-A4; TLT; R3-A2;

Any obvious weakness or tweaks? Not sure if this list could handle 4x TLTs, and I still have to test it against Imperial Aces.

VI is not that helpful on Nera. Instead I would suggest deadeye. It only helps her to fire the proton torps, but considering her ability, that is pretty darn helpful! Now you can just focus and wait for something to come into range (rather than messing around with trying to pick up a target lock, because deadeye lets you spend focus as if it were a target lock).

Thanks for your suggestion. I will try this tweak.

The idea behind VI was that Nera could fire her torps before Crackshot Bots - and PS7 and FCS should provide a target lock reliable enough?

The target lock is not that hard to get, but i feel nera really shines with deadeye, because with her 360° torpedo arc, she can fire at whatever she wants with deadeye.if you lock onto something, but a juicier target passes behind her, you want to attack that instead! What use is an all around arc if you can only shoot at the ship you locked anyway!

Also, if you are up against an ace who moves after you, there is a good chance it will have been too far away to lock on to it anyway.

I must confess that i usually run nera with the b wing/E2 mod and Recspec for double focus though, meaning that if your target survives, you get a target lock on it, and when you focus next turn, you should have double focus and the lock, wich gives you options. (or gives you double focus on the first shot, one to fire the torp and a second to change the roll)

Her lower PS also means a higher ace can strip tokens and Nera has a good chance at belting 2+ crits onto something (Guidance Chip, Proton Torps extra modifier, natural crits).

Luckily Deadeye + Guidance Chip works well with Proton Torps (unlike Advanced Proton Torps).

Ok, I will try out deadeye an see how it works this way.

For VI, it could help to 'better' barrel roll and with the tracktor beam against other mid tier PS pilots.

But you are right, Nera is primary for get some nice crits with the torpedos.
