I am very interested in this game. I have not purchased it yet, due to availability issues, but that is a different topic. But I have printed the (on-line) rules and read them, and re-read them, which is what you got to do to most FFG games anyways, right? .

I understand that there is a limit of three monsters allowed in your engagement area.

Is there a limit to the number of monsters allowed in the shadow zone (face-up or face-down)?

Hi, there is no limit to the number of monsters you can have in the shadow zone. Either face up or face down. Some get discarded when you travel if they are in the shadow zone, this is a good way of controlling their numbers.

You should definitely get this game. It's so fun...and insanely difficult!

Big challenge, big fun. A deceptively strategic co op game, indeed. The escalation of monsters in the shadow zone adds a very imminent peril to the game, AND don't forget that even if a monster can't get into your engagement zone, that doesn't make you safe...
