Star Wars Rebels + Crackpot KOTOR theories *mild rebels spoilers

By Cesamasec, in X-Wing Off-Topic

So the new Rebels trailer is out and after rewatching it 5 or so times I have come up with a pretty interesting theory. Throughout the trailer we see the rebels have new cruisers in their fleet, and these look almost exactly like the hammerhead cruisers from KOTOR 1+2. This shows they are drawing from KOTOR. Ahsoka even says in the beginning of the trailer that legends are based in truth, showing how they are bringing stuff back from legends material. So my theory is that the Sith looking temple that appears in the trailer is Malachor, a planet in KOTOR 2 that was important for your characters backstory. Malachor is ravaged by a super weapon, and lo and behold the visual dictionary for the force awakens mentions, "The Great Scourge of Malachor". I think they are the same because when Ezra has the cross guard lightsaber you can see the background is the same as that sith temple, and that stone statue looks like the victims of Pompei, so a victim of the Great Scourge perhaps? Also we get the mention of the Scourge in the visual dictionary in the section on Kylo Rens lightsaber, saying that it is based on an ancient design from the Great Scourge.

Tl:dr, Ezra is holding an ancient lightsaber on Malachor

OK, thats it, my nerdery couldn't contain itself and my brother who I discuss this stuff with is away at college, so to the internet it is!

Sounds plausible.

I've tried to like Rebels. I really have. I'd given up on it. It's too fantastic to fit in with my personal SW canon. After seeing this preview .. I'll give it another chance.

Regarding your theory: I find it amusing that the characters in the SW universe can reference things that happened thousands of years ago (in the Old Republic) yet, in TFA Han says "It's true, all of it" in reference to Jedis like it was some ground breaking news .. a mere 2 generations after there were thousands of Jedi wiped out by order 66 in the galaxy.

Imagine if some old fella says to you "It's true, WW2 .. it happened!" .. NO WAY! We knew about the Alexander the Great and the Macedonians but what .. WW2 .. no way!

Well the empire did make a point of rotting out knowledge about the Jedi, while the Republic was kept in history as a reminder of how much the galaxy suffers without the empires order.

Those who seek to control information, seek to control the world. I know it sounds tin-foil-hat, but it's true.

Give this man a cookie. Palpatine actively tried to wipe out all knowledge of the Jedi. If I remeber correctly, I believe he even tried making knowledge/worship of the Force illegal.

I've seen a number of different people theorize that the sith temple we see in the trailer is on Malachor, which was also made canon in The Clone Wars. Colonel Meebur Gascon says "no way in malachor" basically equating the planet to hell.

What i'm really hoping is that Revan is in that sith holocron we see Ezra holding. :D :D

It sounds very plausible. I never realized the visual dictionary directly references Malachor.

Anything that has the potential of getting into Revan territory is very..... very..... exciting.

I realize SWTOR isn't canon, but whatever happened to Revan? I stopped playing before The Shadow of Revan was released.
