I love this game and the X wings it's named after! There is nothing more satisfying than putting down a list with nothing but X wings in it across from a TIE swarm list.

I don't know if I'll ever play in a tournament but for now I'm just having a blast playing casual, whether it's 100point dogfight or epic/cinematic.

Mine have.....and I've won with them. There's a guy at my semi-L FGS who's normally the TO at events, and is a very good player. I show up at X-Wing night, and he swings by while I'm prepping and asks "what ridiculous mess are you playing this week?", since I bring the stupid and make it work, and have a ball the whole time. What may end up being my store championship list (I never play the same list twice, but this one sings) sings Dare to be stupid..... and you know what? I Dare enough to change my forum handle to Hot Rod.

I agree with this so much, to the point that as soon as someone says a ship is not viable I toss there opinions out.

90% of the scum lists I fly have at least 1 m3a in them because for me the ship preforms unbelievable well but if I were to listen to the forums I should probably melt down my m3a's and toss them in the garbage.

I wonder how many people don't give ships a proper chance because of the crap they read on these forums telling them what's "worth" flying.

Or instead of dismissing their opinion and every other opinion they may have, why not have a discussion about it and tell them why you think it is viable.

To discredit/dismiss those who think something doesn't work for them when it does for you is very counterproductive to you and those that disagree. Viable is relative not negative.

You are probably right but I have become to jadded to people that think only the precived top 10% of ships are even worth fielding that I just give up on them assuming they can't be reasoned with and move on. This is probably rude on my part.

My general disappointment is that there are to many people who will only fly what they readborbis told is good without actually knowing for themselves.

Everything is subjective, for example for some reason I stink with TLT y-wings and brobots but that's what I am told is the only viable scum lists, for me that's not true so having people run around saying what is the only viable ship really blocks people from what they might be good with if they listen to those people. All ships are viable for someone.

I hate how it creates boxes for people to think inside. I still get told that HWKs "aren't viable", even though TLT has been out for a while now and I have done well with them even before that.

Thats even worse for TIE Bombers, those guys are pretty fantastic and literaly no one played them at worlds! People are afraid to try out new things, which makes a lot of them very vulnerable to the "oddball-factor", because they just have no idea how things beyond tier 1-2 handle.

Any list can be viable if it suits your playstyle. The question of viability tends to lock people in certain 'auto-includes' and speaking in certainties 'you'll be lucky if Wedge survives to shoot more than once', 'you must always be able to modify dice, otherwise you die'.

Find a list that sings to you and see how viable it is. Even if the song is The Touch.

Being "viable" isn't enough for competitive play, it's simple as that.

I tend to fly the ships I like, even though I am often discouraged by some discussions about how bad or useless some of the upgrades are. I bought ships I like and mostly due to pilots I like from te movies and the books. I really enjoy flying those ships even though I have won 1 out of 5 games.

I am going to the tournament with the same attitude. I will fly what I like and what I learned how to fly and hope I will shot something down.
