Two Overlapped Ships, Same Maneuver Over Two Rounds

By ObiWonka, in X-Wing Rules Questions

This just came up in a game and we weren't 100% certain of the rules interpretation. Two parallel ships, one bumps the other which is ioned and does a 1-forward. Next round the first ship also does a 1-forward, touching the ioned ship. Since they did the same maneuver, even though it was 2 separate rounds, the FAQ would still apply, and the first ship would get its action, right?

"FAQ: Overlapping Inline Ships

Sometimes a round will end with two ships touching each other, parallel, and facing the same direction. After both ships execute a maneuver of the same speed or perform the same boost or barrel roll action, they are not touching even if their bases are still in physical contact (unless they overlapped)."

Let me get this straight. An ioned ship is overlapped before it does it's 1-straight ion move. The overlapper loses his perform action step. OK?

Next round, the overlapper, does a 1-straight and finishes 'adjacent' to the previously ioned ship, but not overlapping. The way I see it, he'd still have his perform action step. Then the previously ioned ship would do his chosen maneuver and move away. Sound about right?

But then again, he's still touching it.

not overlapping, still touching

will he attack is the funnier question here

If they overlapped during a privious move and ended their move parallel to each other. Then moved the same movement, then they are no longer considered touching.

Even if it was three rounds from the time they originally touched. Just as long as they are both doing the same movement.

But then again, he's still touching it.

Touching is a game term and can only happen as a result of an overlap. So the round after the overlapp happened, they are not touching, they are mearly "pysicaly adjecent".

Because the ship is not considered to be 'touching' it may attack as normal.

That was my interpretation of the events, yes. So it seems everyone is in consensus. Thanks guys!
