This makes me happy in so many ways.

Armed merchant cruisers and merchant ships converted to aircraft carriers have always ha a special place in my heart. shame the go boom so often; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SS_Atlantic_Conveyor .

I'll take two of 'em and those hammerheads.

I'm dying to have some dedicated carriers with minimal armament and high(ish) squadron values. This is great news.

Escort carriers and Flurry for wave three!

Flurry, Dukedoom, and whatever this ship is named for titles!

Just a thought, but Rebels is apparently introducing a buttload of capital ships this season. Wave 3 announcement may be delayed so FFG isn't spoiling Rebels episodes before they air.

Maybe the rebels could use a cheaper ship with Fighter 4? I dunno, but it's good to see Legends-as-a-sourcebook for canon is still panning out. The Quasar carrier looks agreeable, though it seems they changed the forward command pod.

Nice. I like their hanger layout better too. Several smaller bay entrances instead of that one massive opening.

I wasn't sure if tht was the Quasar Fire at first really. It looks like one but its so big.

Quasar Fire is listed at 340m, the CR90 at 150, so it's not that far off.

Yeah I have a much bigger soft spot for frigates because more family members have served on them, I've had a lot more fun playing them in games and RPGs and they play a key role in many novels I like but I'm had ancestors or family members serve on escort carriers, auxiliary cruisers, or the equivalent as well so I'm fond of them too.

I would love to have more dedicated carrier ships!!

When I first saw Rebels, I thought 'eeeeew, squishy clay cartoon thing'. That lasted for all of maybe 10 minutes. But even just looking at it strictly as source material, it's got colour plates for established ships and fighters, the revamp and reintroduction of old favourites, and some brand new things too. I'm consistently agog at how many awesome concepts and validations come out of that show, and this Quasar (not to mention that Hammerhead 'transport') is just the latest in a long list.

I'm happy they changed a few of the details too, the separate hangar bays that Wes pointed out being the main one. Thanks a ton for putting it up Mel! I hadn't seen this'n.

it's kind of sad. I am more excited about this ship being in Rebels, and that it is once again apart of the official canon than anything else in the trailer. Now if Rebels just adds Dreadnaughts and Victory Class Star Destroyers I can die a happy star wars fan.....and maybe Carrack Cruisers too and Vindicator Cruisers...

Victory Star Destroyers and Carracks are already in the newcanon novels - it may be only a matter of time.

Victory class is in the new canon!!!! I have not bothered with the new novels, but as they are canon, and if there are VSD's in them, that is awesome!!!

One of the recent episodes also had an Interdictor Crusier which has never been shown on screen before but was an invention of the WEG RPG and a staple of Star Wars computer games (like X-Wing and TIE Fighter).

Yeah the Victory and the Carrack too and several other EU ships, as well as some old characters like Admiral Screed and Armand Isard, made a come back in the Tarkin novel. As well as several ships from the old Rebellion PC game. The Carrack was mentioned in another one of the new novels but I don't remember which one. I can't wait to see them brought to life on screen.

The list of canon ships (in the correct time period) that have yet to be released is fairly sizable already. Exciting. :)

The Imperial Ton-Falk class Escort Carrier is canon as well. At least an Imperil Escort Carrier appears in the Tarkin novel with an identical fighter compliment and weapons array plus a description that fits the Ton-Falk

It looks a little different on the underside at least:
