New video/ships in Star Wars Rebels mid-season2 preview

By jpltanis, in X-Wing

Yeah both sides escort carriers from Rebellion are now canon along with the CC-7700 Interdictor Frigates. I'm still hoping the rest of the Rebellion ships that aren't currenty canon become so soon (Strike Cruiser, CC-9600 Frigate, Assault Frigate, DP20 Frigate/Corellian Gunship, Dauntless Heavy cruiser, Liberator Cruiser and Bulwark Battlecruiser)

Uh.

Everything and Everyone was connected LONG BEFORE J.J. Abrams was ever involved.

And JJ didn't write the characters. He just pointed the camera at them. If you don't like that they pulled Han and Luke's kids from the EU and renamed them and changed their stories slightly then you need to blame the LFL story group, the screenplay writers that created the dialogue for the story group's story, and the EU for not being strong enough to hold water as it was.

JJ did do work with Lawrence Kasdan on the script for The Force Awakens. Some directors are more involved in the script stage than others. JJ did enough to get writing credits, and I know Rian Johnson is the primary writer for VIII.

What's wrong with slapstick? Sometimes a good stupid chuckle isn't a bad thing.

Joss Whedon probably said it best: “Make it dark, make it grim, make it tough, but then, for the love of God, tell a joke.”

Look all I want to say is: HOLY CRAP the Quasar class carrier is canon!! WOOT. Giant space hangar's are back in baby. Armada's got some delicious new meat on the table for Rebs. That and the old republic cruisers (meh). Cool stuff, really solid trailer. This show definitely feels like it captures a good bit of the original trilogy spark.

Next addition, will be this sexy beast. :)

Yes sometimes, but an intelligent laugh is so much better. Cue Fire Fly.

Do stupid chuckle to much and you end up with the Phantom Menace and Jar Jar and little Annie.

The name "Quasar Fire-class" for this ship debuted in West End Games's The Truce At Bakura sourcebook.

It's certainly been the most DOMINANT feeling most of the guys I know have had about this series. 'Rebels' feels so much like someone played the old West End Games RPG for a few years, then found a way to take their characters and stories and just put them on the screen.

It's just an endless assault of 'oh, yeah, that totally happened to me' or 'hey, I remember that ship, we fought with them over...' or 'geez, not ISB again - well at least it's not the inquisitors', etc, et al.

With a couple of minor overhauls, I certainly hope so.
