Dial Upgrades on the boat. Will you be getting them and how many?

By Marinealver, in X-Wing

So with the dial upgrades on the boat (before the colored bases) the question comes will you be getting any. If so how many and will all or some of your ships get the engine upgrade.

With say a purchase of one of each expansion there 60 dials out there (including Wave 8 and the extra dials from Most Wanted and Hounds tooth). The dial upgrade kits come in packs of three. There are 15 different Rebel ships, 14 different Imperial ships and 11 Different Scum ships. Now of course you will have doubles with the core set and others not to mention some collectors get two to 4 of each pack. So the question is if you would buy how many and which ships will it be for?

As for me I plan on getting 1 of each pack. No more and for the ships I will upgrade the huge ships as in epic I find it easy to get the dials mixed up. now I know scum don't have huge ships but I did make a conversion for the GR-75 so I may somehow find an extra GR-75 medium transport dial and put a scum upgrade on it. I might end up tearing a few dials trying to separate them and have to ask for a replacement.

Most likely none. I like the concept and the durability it would add to my dials for playing with my sons, but the only way to do this right would be to do them all and that's a lot of money that could be used on ships instead.

I doubt I'll get any. I make a point of limiting how much I spend on accessories. I bought acrylic templates and I'm glad I did, but I have trouble spending money on extra tokens...

The idea of dial covers while they might be handy, I just can't justify the money. None of my dials are in bad enough shape yet, that's after 3 or so years of play.

If it were fairly easy to swap the cardboard part in and out, I'd consider maybe buying a set... But right now I'd rather spend money on Wave 8 then these.

I'd consider them, but they're low priority for me.

I'd rather spend my money on ships or save up for that Raider (one day!).

Not a chance. If I have money to spend I can always use more ships. But that might not be the case for everyone else.

I follow the general consensus here, they look cool and all, but that is money I could be spending on more ships or comic books...its just not high up on the priority list

No thanks.

0.

Nope. Mine are fine as they are. Don't need "the bling". (Of course no plan survives contact with the enemy)

eh when they go on sale maybe

Probably end up buying a couple packs of each faction.

I will buy some, probably one of each.

I'll be getting several. Initial plans are four packs for each faction.

This is subject to change (down to "none") with the quality and ease of use of the product.

I just don't even see the point in them. I don't need the identifier either, because i put my dials on my ship cards, not on the table.

The design looks like it makes the dials harder to use than the standard cardboard, so 0.

Some

Definitely. Save wear on the cardboard dials and I like being able to see everything at one time.

Mostly leaning towards "none". Would rather keep my money and spend it on one of the new mats and Wave 8. VALEN RUDOR OVER BESPIN!!!

Zip,zero,nada.

I'd much rather have another ship.

Well I do have to say, they are a much nicer than some of the other alternatives on eBay.

I'll probably get one for my Interceptor.

None, though the idea of getting them for the huge ships has some merit. They probably don't have inserts for the huge ships though.

I'll save my money for some more large ships so I finally have doubles of them, or for the new playmats. I have a third party one, but these two new ones are too nice to resist.

And for Armada wave 3, when it finally is announced.

I'm hoping it's going to fix some of my loose dials.

nope, keeping my money for something useful, like the next wave

Maybe 8 of each - I might pull all my dials apart - and this would allow me to save a ton of space, or none, we will see.

I don't see the point.
