Every so often, after a big battle, it becomes important to know if there were any survivors among each side. Perhaps you want to interrogate prisoners, or perhaps you had some inspired townsfolk on your side, and you need to see if any of the fallen might make it home. Now, with a Nemesis, I would say just roll a Crit when he's over his Wound Threshold, like a PC. With a Rival, you could do the same, but even though Rivals can be tough, they're not really meant to stick around through the campaign. With Minions, you really don't want to be rolling dozens of crits just to see what happened to Stormtroopers 1-60.
So, inspired by Savage Worlds, I'm brainstorming a solution. At the end of a battle, determine how many minions were lost. You might want to regroup them, so you have groups of live and fallen ones. Each group makes a Brawn roll against two purple dice,
adding, not upgrading
one green die for each minion past the first. Each success indicates one survivor, advantage means one is conscious, threat means he needs medical attention or he'll die. Failure with advantage probably means one is conscious, but beyond saving.
You could also change this up if you don't want to be rolling for multiple groups. Just roll one green die for each fallen minion. A success means that one is alive, so it's 50/50. It doesn't take Brawn into account, but it's faster and who cares? They're minions.
For Rivals, you could simply have them roll Resilience. The roll could be against 2 purple dice, or the difficulty of the crit they took when they were incapacitated.
Obviously, you won't want to do this every time your players get in a fight, but it's handy to have a tool when your players ask, "Are there any survivors?"
