Hey all I am relatively new to the game but I enjoy it alot. However one thing about me is I have been playing Battletech for close to 30 years. Because of how much I love the campaign setting in that world. I know that with the Rebel transport and the Imperial Raider that you get campaign settings in a sense but with this game and the talk of custom cards for characters and ships that alot of you put work into could you turn this into a campaign style that is similar to Battletech or would Armada be better for that?
Campaign's
There is a fairly complete fan-made co-op campaign: https://community.fantasyflightgames.com/topic/186308-x-wing-co-op-campaign-is-here/
You can definitely do campaign-style stuff with X-Wing. The ones that come with each Huge ship are around 3 to 4 missions, and include features where the results of each mission impact the set-up and rules for the next mission. It wouldn't be too tough to extend that into even longer and more complex custom campaigns. There are already examples in the Huge ship campaigns of mechanics like earning additional upgrades for your ships, perma-death for named pilots, and so on.
I write different ones quite often. Depends how you want to go about it.
I wish FFG released a mission compendium PDF with all the missions (just the missions) in it, then i'd use some randomizer to select side(offense/defense) and mission, then string a load. That'd be an easy campaign structure for 2-3 players vs.
Aturi is the clear co-op winner at the moment. Other methods involve hex maps etc or narrative stories.
For campaigns another thing i'd note is how far are you going with lore.
Are you factoring what ships are available in the time line?
Are you taking what characters are available literally (i almost never do this).
Are you using set characters?
Are you factoring in carrier capacity, and which fighters have hyperdrives?
Which fighters are available in your timeline?
Will it be metamap? different ship speeds involved? Different terrain?
I can go on...
Edited by DariusAPBThanks guys I am definitely going to look into this.
I'll probably be releasing an extensive non-linear PvP campaign system in a month or so. In the meantime Aturi comes highly recommended for co-op, and this is a relatively brief narrative pvp campaign I made a while back: Battle for Ord Calda
Edited by BabaganooshBabaganoosh .. This sound great! keep us posted! Also .. if you can leave a door open designwise to include or siubstitue Armada instead of X-wing for the bigger battles it would great. But no matter im looking forward to this..
Here's one I did on my blog a while ago.
http://antipodeangaming.blogspot.com.au/2015/07/campaign.html
It's PvP and non-linear. It introduces a range of different scenarios and deals with pilots increasing skill over time and squadrons increasing their reputation and renown.
I like it, but I'm a bit biased ![]()

Hey, actually you could edit all the campaigns' links listed here into your first post as a kind of compilation for everyone who's searching for a fitting one, but to lazy to scroll down (or through the pages)....!

I don't have an actual link though just a word. I think I understand though what you are asking for but I just got off work so if you want to shoot me a pm for more clarity that is fine

I think he is suggesting you take the links to campaigns or missions from the posts above and edit them into your original post so that anyone clicking on your thread will then see all the various options available. There are a bunch of such 'compendium' posts where people have done the same.
You'd be a hero to millions.
And lastly, you and John Tenzar could be brothers.
