100 point Decimator & Fel list

By Rikk1980, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So, I'm going to my first Tournament in a few weeks, and I'm considering the list below, what thoughts do people have?

http://xwing-builder.co.uk/view/392171/lost-ark-tournament

It consists of:

Decimator: 63

  • Rear Admiral Chiraneau 46
  • Lone Wolf 2
  • Engine Upgrade 4
  • Darth Vader 3
  • Palpatine 8

Interceptor: 35

  • Soontir Fel 27
  • Push the Limit 3
  • Royal Guard 0
  • Auto-Thrusters 2
  • Stealth Device 3

For a total of 98 with a 2 point initiative bid in there.

All thoughts welcome..............

I'd change Lone Wolf to VI or Predator. It doesn't do that much for you, considering you have no agility. It's a decent card on Kenkirk, but not so great for RAC.

I run a similar two ship build, but I use Kenkirk and Ysanne, which is more defensive (good for surviving against 1 or 2 other ships at the end game). Your list seems more offense oriented, which is also fine. Just make sure that if/when the Decimator blows up, Soontir can finish off whatever's left on the board. Could be tricky if it's a PS10 Poe or a PS11 Vader.

63 points is a lot to just give away with vader crew....

Kenkirk

Lone wolf

Palp

Isard

EU

Ion bombs for those who get behind you.

Thanks for the responses guys,

I'm not planning to "burn" through the entire Decimator, it's Vader not Kylo Ren. However the opportunity to finish off any ace who's got 1 remaining hit and deny them another turn is worth 3 points and 2 Damage.

I'm fully intending to play the list very aggressively, as befits the list.

But think of the opportunity cost with that Vader. For one point more, you get Ysanne which stops one damage. With Vader, you deal 1 crit but take 2 damage. That's not 2 for 1, that's a 3 for 1, because you also gave up the Evade Token (though you saved 1pt in your build).

Is it worth 2HP AND an Evade Token (which you lost due to your build choice) to deal 1 crit? Very, very situationally. Soontiruationally. That Ace you denied another turn to? It was probably just gonna shoot you once for that 3 damage anyway so...are you ahead now?

If you're still planning on RAC with Vader Crew, that's well and good, but hook-up VI for PS10. Save damage by arc dodging and being unpredictable, rather than with Ysanne and Green Dice, and make sure that when you use Vader to blow up an Ace, they didn't already shoot at you this turn, so it's a REAL health savings, as opposed to additional damage.

Ok, so I ditched lone Wolf for Vet Instincts and added some Flechette Torpedoes.

Had the first couple of games with the list and was thoroughly impressed.

My advice?

Ditch the Deci. Even i love the ship so much. It just doesn't fit into todays meta.

But if you want to play it go with either standard RAC:

RAC : Pred, Gunner, Ysanne, EU

Thats standard full offence build. "Ill kill you before you kill me"

Or try new i call it "falcon" build:

Kenkirk: Pred, Empreror, Ysanne, EU

That one lets you prevent 2 damage after you loose your shields, one with Ysanne second one with Kenkirk/Palpa combo.

I would pick defensive one. With new scoring rules Decimator is giving your opponent 30 points anyway. Lets not make it 60 too easy.

Why on earth you would take missles on turreted ship? Either your opponent is flying dumb, or you gonna end up positioned badly trying to fire them.

If you dump darth crew you are crazy.

VT-49 Decimator: · Rear Admiral Chiraneau (46)

Veteran Instincts (1)

Engine Upgrade (4)

· Darth Vader (3)

Gunner (5)

· Rebel Captive (3)

Just wrecks so much.

I do like your idea of palpatine though.

Hmm.... I like. The question is who to fly with it, though.

Darth Vader is obviously not an option; Fel could work; coming in at 97 points (a healthy bid) or 99 points if you want either flechette torpedoes or a seismic charge as an opportunity weapon.

Alternatively, has anyone tried Juno Eclipse? with Veteran Instincts and an engine upgrade she's got a ridiculous ability to outfly people.....

Possibly drop VI for PTL on Juno. Still got PS of 8 with healthy bid of 98pts?

Ive played VI juno once. She doesnt hit very hard. I wouldnt recommend ptl on her either. You dont want to be stuck doing banks, imo.

Fel is the obvious choice of wingman. Rebel captive isnt critical to the boosting chirpy because the goal is not to get hit in the first place. Dropping the 3 points might allow you to fit a phantom or firespray. 2 AC advance is not bad either. If you do go with fel an initiative bid is a good idea as it will be very helpful to both ships.
