Corvette Death

By Blinky82, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

So my friend is entering a tournament in a few weeks with me and asked me to post his list on here for some comments and advice.

It's a 4 ship list consisting of 3 Corvettes and Home One. The idea being that he out activate his opponents if possible and make use of Ackbar's ability combined with TRC to pound the enemy into the ground with his Corvettes. The Home One is being used as bait for the enemy therefore hoping the Corvettes will be considered lower priority targets. The list runs at 385 and he is looking for a 5 point initiative bid at least, as such, any ideas on what to spend the extra 10 or so points on would be appreciated.

He is also looking for advice on what objectives he should take.

Rebels Fleet (385 of 400 pts)
Commander: Admiral Ackbar (38 pts)
Flagship: (145 pts)

  • MC80 Command Cruiser(106 pts)
  • Home One (7 pts)
  • Engineering Captain (6 pts)
  • Engine Techs (8 pts)
  • Redundant Shields (8 pts)
  • XI7 Turbolasers (6 pts)
  • Leading Shots (4 pts)

Fleet Ship 1: (51 pts)

  • CR90 Corvette A(44 pts)
  • Turbolaser Reroute Circuits (7 pts)

Fleet Ship 2: (51 pts)

  • CR90 Corvette A(44 pts)
  • Turbolaser Reroute Circuits (7 pts)

Fleet Ship 3: (51 pts)

  • CR90 Corvette A(44 pts)
  • Turbolaser Reroute Circuits (7 pts)

Squadrons (49 of 134 pts):

  • 3x A-Wing Squadron (33 pts)
  • 1x Tycho Celchu A-Wing Squadron (16 pts)

I have seen a funny build that was a mc80 bunch if Corvette bs with all engine techs and reiken. Whole plan is ram the hell out of the enemy just a fun idea.

1. Add Jaina's light and tantive-4. (5 pts)

2. Put leia on the tantive 4. (3 pts)

3. Take off the engineering captain. (-6 pts)

4. Add one of the officers that does something cool to the big pickle. Intel officer for example. (7 pts).

You're up 9 (or less if you pick wallex or lando or somesuch) points from where you started. Tantive-4 is command 1 and can set the pickle to engineering whenever you need. It doesn't need to be particularly close to the enemy, since it is using red dice + turbo reroute shenanigans. You can also use it to hand tokens to the pickle on the way upfield. Like a nav token, to use that engine upgrade on the turn when it needs to engineer instead.

Edit: Oh and jaina's light is just a good title. Especially if you run into one of those "fly around the map grabbing things" objectives.

Oh! objectives!

Red:

-Advanced Gunnery is the obvious choice, if you really want to play a yellow or gray scenario. No one in their right minds will give this power to a pickle.

-Most Wanted might actually see play, while giving you a slight advantage. Make em chase the jaina's light around while it hides behind your ships, then get an extra die against the thing you hate most.

-No bombers in the fleet, so no Precision Strike.

-Opening salvo is for spammy lists usually, not a terrible choice for a 4 ship fleet.

Yellow:

- hyperspace assault is always fun, but the big pickle kinda wants to be on the table providing accuracies.

- fleet ambush is a safe choice. No huge benefit but not likely to work against you either.

- The pickle, with its majestic broadsides, could compete in fire lanes, but it's not great.

- Contested outpost will see you get bullied by victories and AFII fleets, or double pickle/ISD stuff. Pass.

Gray:

- Dangerous Territory is good, since you have 3 speedy little buggers.

- Intel sweep is what the Jaina's Light was made for. And you still have 2 more speedy ships.

- Minefields.... corvettes want to maneuver. I'd say no.

- Superior Positions. I usually think of this as the "I brought 134 points of squadrons" objective. 3vettes might be able to score it. Getting matched against a squadron fleet would not be fun.

Great thanks, I'll pass this on to my friend. Any other comments appreciated.

Kamikaze Corvette build...that would spoil any sane minded Imperial player.
