Tractor Beam is Nasty

By voidstate, in X-Wing

I for one, want to put it on Moralo Eval.

Now I want to put it on Moralo Eval as well. Possibly with Bossk and Gunner, to force unsavoury choices.

Gunner (5)

Bossk (2)

BWHAHAHAHAHA!

Maybe Hotshot Blaster instead on those Pirates. With the reduced Agility, it might be better.

Can't free up four points, not enough space.

Besides, the whole point is to hurl poor bastards right into the waiting maw of the feedback arrays!

How abouts this list? I calls it:

"Conscumption"

Cartel Spacer (14) X2

Tractor Beam (1)
"Heavy Scyk" Interceptor (Cannon) (2)
Cartel Marauder (20) X2
Binayre Pirate (12) X2
XX-23 S-Thread Tracers (1)
Guidance Chips (0)
Total: 100
The tracers are mainly for filling some points but also to allow the TB to hit and let the Kihrfkldjsb's hit harder.
As Gecko points out, PS does not work for the tracers. Could still be a decent list as hopefully the Z's are shooting at weakened targets. Could also just go two Tractor Spacers and 3 Kihravbkxnk's with Glitterstim.

The only problem with that is the Bananas are PS1, so would fire the tracers after the Marauders/Spacers shoot. Could set up fully modded 2nd turn shots, though.

Crappola. Can you tell I fly Rebels?

To be fair you probably only need one set of tracers - bump one Z95 to a Black Sun Soldier and give him the tracers, and you're good to go.

My own offering:

Moralo Eval - Tractor Beam, K4 Security Droid & Outlaw Tech (or Gunner)

Cartel Marauder x 3

...I'm in the same boat - I really wanted the Gunner & Bossk combo on Moralo, but that would take me 2 points over!

YV and 3 Kihraxzytrxb's is a pretty strong list in general. I think the Tractor Beam on YV, IG, B-wings is mostly a psychological weapon. Odds are, you will be firing with primary most of the time but you have it in your back pocket.

Actually, the second cannon slot on IG...

I hit a similar problem with a similar mindset. You could go with two Marauders and maybe a TPV with crack shot to squeeze out those points. Or, like, Leeachos with IPMs or AHMs.

Might not be bad to figure out how to get just a pair of heavy hitters with him. Guri would be a natural fit, and Decoy TBC sounds wonky but might work.

I'm thinking

Zuckess

Title for tractor beam

Outlaw Tech

Advanced Sensors

VI

He could be rolling five dice at range one or roll four dice and tractor beam a ship. With a high ps he'd have plenty of options.

Well ****, I completely forgot it had 2.

Better stop that's messing with your mind maaaaaan.

Fel, Vader, kHorn

add to that the fact that anyone outside Vessery has even less chances to tag them with the Gravgun of Awesome

I think Outrider Vrill doesn't care much. Especially if you can get a stress on one of the aces.

outrider vrill can't use his ability т_т

actually IG used the tractor beam and mangler.

Dumb question, how are you playing the card with it not released yet?

Ahem. http://xwing-builder.co.uk/build

I can't wait to try out this one, when it will be available:

Colonel Vessery (38)

veteran instincts (1) tractor beam (1) twin ion engine mk. II (1) TIE/D title (0)

The Inquisitor (28)

juke (2) TIE/v1 title (1)

Darth Vader (34)

adaptability (0) engine upgrade (4) TIE/x1 title (0) advanced targeting computer (1)

100 pts

If adaptability works as I suppose it would (one double sided card allowing you to change your PS -1 or +1) Vader could shoot after Vessery or become an ace hunter. Although, if adaptability needs to be put on 2 ships, it could go to the Inquisitor as well, which leaves me 2 spare points for autothrusters on him.

I am pumped to run this with Brobots. Strip tokens with primary then decide to hlc or tractor beam. Adds a ton of flexibility.

Nice call, if you're right on dual upgrades. Inq and Vess are major hammers, and it let's Vader punch his autocrit through much easier. You can then flex to PS10 when needed.

I'm confused, you have to hit with this to take effect. And it does no damage.

Sure it can be nastly, but I think only on 2 agility ships, and even then you still have to hit.

I see the defender, and the Agressors as the main platforms.

Dropping a 3-Agility down to 2 can be quite effective.

And tossing them about even more so.

Potentially tossing them about even more so. Suddenly those rocks are mighty close. As are those debris clouds, and what's that I'm flying straight towards? The Edge fo the Universe?

Very true, but you still have to hit those 3 agility ships first. Not an easy as everyone thinks. This is not an autohit like stress this is done right because you have to hit to activate it.

So unless your target agility is 1 or 2, not sure it will be as awesome as everyone thinks.

Nah just Thursday I murdered an a-wing in one turn quite easily with vessery unless your lucky odds of getting three evades is not great but his odds of getting three hits with tractor are pretty decent.

Just like how the Stresshog is powerful due to its dominating the field of fire by scaring people out of arc, so does this one point cannon.

You have to be pretty sure of not getting hit or not being placed in a too harsh position if you're not wary of the TB arc.

The more other shots you have to take advantage of it, the better Tractor Beam will be. Vessery & Blackshots has the potential to be brutal, as do ships with a gunner mechanic.

No one is going to want to be hit by a Tractor Beam, as quite apart from the agility reduction, the movement shenanigans can render a ship helpless the following turn. So most players will do everything they can to avoid getting hit by it. Which means they'll likely spend their defensive tokens... with Gunner/IG-88B/Luke, that's going to be fun.

Which is why I like the the YV-666 Bossk/Gunner/Tractor Beam build. Tough decisions.
