Will there be a Rebel Veterans expansion?

By billyyank, in X-Wing

The X-wing has the option to reposition with BB-8. The ship is not in the sad shape many claim it is. Sometimes it seems a ship is considered trash if it isn't considered OP or at least tier 1.

Without wanting to get into any kind of "well, define exactly how sad you think is and let's go from there" discussion, it's lack of use in competitive play would suggest that it is absolutely in need of some kind of fix, even if it's just in a minor point reduction (like the Chardaan refit) or as someone else suggested, a fix via Astromechs. Not looking for it to be OP, looking for it to be on an equal footing in terms of cost and squad building.

The y-wing does not need a fix but more pilots would be great.

E-wing generics certainly need help and some cheaper aces wouldn't hurt so I think it'll be in there for sure.

X-wing does not need more pilots but it's still not fixed and won't be until they give the aces a way to reposition.

Need, no. But the X-wing has far more pilots that exist in the lore that people want.

And the Aces have plenty of options for repositioning.

Yeah but until it's considered worth taking in competitive play they'll only sit in a folder, fix the ship then add every pilot you like, don't put the cart before the horse.

Sure they can pay 4 points for EU but then can't take IA then, you can take ept's but that isn't that great either.

If it were easy to make aces reposition don't you think we'd see em being played more?

Can we not just give every **** ship boost or barrel roll? The X-Wing does not need boost or barrel roll, all it needs is a 1 point discount on an astromech with Integrated Astromech or some new astromechs that are designed just for the X-Wing.

No it needs a way to reposition the ps9 of wedge doesn't count for much when he can't catch his prey in arc to begin with.

Remember I don't play rebels often I'm imp through and through but it pains me I don't get to blow up the classic x-wing.

The X-Wing just got a fix and these things are developed a year in advance right? So if rebel vets comes out this year there's zero chance it'll have an x-wing because they haven't had time to see how well the current fix does.

HWK needs the most help. Until tlt there were zero good builds, now there's 1. E-wing aces are fine but the generic ships need help so that's ship #2.

I think the Dorsal turret will help the HWK, I don't really fly turrets though.

The X-Wing is back and will be in the meta. An R2 rookie is better value for 22 points than a naked blue. I know MJ's numbers say differently and this is one of those rare times that the ship performs better than his calculations. I assume his R2 + IA takes the improved dial into account, but I'm not sure. Pre IA, I was flying BBBBZ because the X-Wing lacked even in casual play. Post IA, it's no longer close. I simply must have my X wings.

You aren't going to see lists built around Luke, Wes, or Wedge. But that's ok. Because they still can fit with any list. Want an end game ship but can't quite afford Poe or Corran? Luke + LW + R2D2 + IA is a very reasonable 34 point alternative. Have Poe but want a little extra punch? Wedge can help hunt opposing aces for 31 paltry points with Wired + R2 + IA. How about support? Wes + R3-A2 + Wired + IA can strip tokens, stress a ship, and gain a defensive bonus with one attack...32 points.

Low PS is even better. Biggs is better than ever. Tarn is the 3 dice attack ship you least want to attack at 25 points. Hobbie K-Turns and comes out of it not stressed and with a TL and Focus to boost. Porkins can be a stress dealer, or a stay on target ace, or a Wired jouster. He's good value at PS 7.

Garven is still meh (he sooooo needs an EPT), but with R2-D6 he's a smouldering dumpster fire instead of the exploding 5 alarm dumpster fire he was previously.

Reds and Rookies are both excellent with R2s. I don't see how you take a 4 ship list with Rebels and not fit an X-Wing in there. They are now the backbone of the rebel fleet.

(Side note, unless you are playing the Tycho + 3 green a-wing list with wired, auto thrusters + ptl across the board. I suspect the lack of offensive firepower will keep it out of the competitive meta, but to sum up that list in 1 word... "WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!")

Liked for the sheer amount of fun in the last paragraph :D

I agree with this. The 22 point X-wing with the R2 unit has 8 green manuevers and is quite tanky. It appears the T-65 has been showing up at Store Championships lately and doing well.

Yeah but lets be real. The Y-Wing was apart of Wave 1. We have to expect mistakes to be made as they figure things out. So i'm sure Horton not getting an EPT was just a learning mistake. No reason to still be salty over it.

If it was just a mistake, the easiest thing would be to print 'Add an Elite Talent slot' next to Horton's pilot card, in the FAQ. Reprints could have the slot. The business model prohibits this, apparently.

Didn't Admiral Thrawn say something about mistakes?
