Had a random thought pop into my head the other day: Will we ever get a generic modification that adds evade to your action bar? Currently the only way I can think of to get evade on your action bar is limited to the YT1300 with the Millennium Falcon title.
Personally I don't think we will get a generic evade modification, seems like it would make the game that much more defensive/slow if any ship could get the evade action. There are generic modifications for Target Lock, Hull, Shield, Green dice (Stealth Device), and boost, why not evade though?
If it were to exist, can anybody think of a reasonable squad cost for it, 3-4 points maybe?
Thoughts/opinions?
Will we ever see an evade mod?
C3-P0 and Jan Ors are crew that can help. But just having a mod that gives an evade token may be too powerful.
Considering that every evade token that prevents damage is in effect a shield token I hope not.
Autothursters are effectively a (granted, situational) evade mod.
The TIE Adv. Prototype lacks evade on its bar - but its title grants "free evade action every time it Target Locks". Not quite the same - but similar.
Boost is 4 poimts, but unlike evade it can help you dodge arcs. So if this came, then 2 points max.
Also before that i would like to see a barrel roll mod!
I would LOVE a barrel roll hull mod... ^^^
I'd slap it straight onto the adorable white space manatee...

Why didn't I think of that in the "Are the imperials getting the short end of the stick" thread? Most imperial ships effectively come with build in regen that only costs an action - sure it isn't quite as powerful as any of the bots, since you need to be shot at, but it also doesn't cost 3-4 points!

True,
It only takes away your offensive capabilities, which this game is based on. ![]()

Just like flying repeatedly into the same direction with R2-D2 or saving your focus for R5-P9 does. Or reducing your TLT shot with Miranda.
PTL also is a thing quite commonly found on imperial ships, that gives you the focus you need to attack.
On topic: I think it would be a bad idea, even if it were small ship only. Evading ships are (outside of the empire) rare and something special.
Edited by Admiral DeathrainYsanne and the Falcon title are the closest I can think of to this.

Don't forget Jan Ors crew.

Well that assigns a token rather than allowing the action so it's slightly different. If we allow that then we also need to include the likes of TIE/x7 etc.

True, I totaly missed the part about the action. If we allow the assign token thing I am afraid we even might have to include Red Ace - lets not go there. You are right.
Edited by Admiral DeathrainHow about a mod that increases your primary weapon value by one if it's two or lower?

Boost is worth 8 on any big ship
and worth 10 when slapped onto a PWT

12 points xD
We can call the evade mod "Go Fasta Stripez" and the primary mod can be "Moar Gunz"
Yeah well Warpman boost costs 4 points as a mod and less for ships that natively have it...

As an upgrade indeed, but net worth of boost is EPIC
Anything costs premium as an upgrade compared to in-built one.
Targetting computer, boost, extra hull, shield...
Anything is.

Neva enuff dakka!

Why would you want a boost mod on something that has it natively?
I had considered mentioning how Stygium Particle Accelerator will soon give any Illicit toting Scum ship the evade action (a huge point sink on something almost certainly guaranteed to fizzle before earning its value, that's another topic though) but if I included that I would have had to include all other forms of acquiring free evade actions/tokens a la Ysanne Isard, Lando, C3PO, Jan Ors, Tie/v1 Title, etc. So we'll leave it as methods that add evade to the action bar unrestricted.
In response to the replies stating that evade action = Imperial regen, I would say that is highly situational and only a guaranteed free shield point in 2 situations:
1. A turn in which you are attacked and spend the evade token
2. Comms Relay equipped ships
In most other cases it is wasted action economy on your part(Juke/Comms Relay both help with this, at an additional cost though). There are some artificial qualities to the evade token that can have an effect on your enemies targeting priority but it most certainly does not guarantee a free shield point every time it is taken.

I agree, that boost gets more worthwile on large ships than on small ships. 8 Points is kind of a guess how much it's worth though, and as long as they don't change it, it's 4 points officially.
There was a time where it would have made sense to nerf large arc-dodgers by making EU small ship only, or changing the way they boost (some suggested taking the side of the base so that the distance would not be that big, and for a straight boost handle it like the barrel roll), but at the moment there is no reason to balance it anymore, we are in a small ship meta and Falcon as well as VT are not that frequent anymore.
You absolutely pay premium for actions that your ship does not have, that's true. That gives FFG the possibility to balance the game by allowing certain ships a cheaper access to certain upgrades if they are too weak too.

I meant what Warpman said. The boost action on an interceptor does not cost 4 points if you break down how the price of the ship is made by FFG. There are of course different ways to calculate that formula and it has never been confirmed that they even use one, but everyone will that a ship that has an action natively on ts bar does not pay 4 points for boost like you do for an EU, and does not pay 2 points for TL action like you do for a Targeting computer...

Also i don't think that investing 4 points into a stygium and an illicit cloak is a point sink. On the Viper you would prefer Autothrusters, but on other ships like the Kihraxz, it's perhaps risked, but 4 points can easily pay off if your ship lives 2 more turns through repositioning and evades! people invest far more points into equally situational combos.
If we look at a simple Stealth device/Autothrusters/PTL combo on Soontir for example, it's 8 points invested in possible survivability. But then last game i killed a Soontir with a Crackshot Omega. Hit/Crit, he blanks out, Autothrusters don't play, Stealth device is removed, PTL does nothing since no evade left, he uses Palpy, i use Crackshot. Direct hit... Boom!
X-Wing is a risky game and everything you invest is situational. The chances of his 35 point ship going down like that were less than a Cloaking device, but the latter is 4 points, while the former was 27 points of ship and 8 points of upgrade, which all lead to nothing!

No Elite slot for that poor alabaster void bison :/
