Choice of Carrier/Lockbox/Container?

By ScoutTrooperV, in X-Wing

Alright so my collection is starting to grow larger than the small basic toolbox that was gifted to me by my roommates. I've always stopped by outdoors section and tool departments of stores to check out tackle boxes and toolboxes to upgrade too. I've found nothing to my liking or that looks like it would handle any of the ships for Epic play well.

What sort of containers do you all use?

I've been using the Stanley brand boxes that you see a fair amount of online. I use the ones with the yellow removable bins as they are easy to modify. I have even bought the deep sided boxes and custom cut the bins to hold my epics. So far working very well

Harbor Freight also sells knockoffs of the Stanleys (that are a bit deeper than the originals) for roughly half the price, and they go on sale often.

That being said, the Raider doesn't really leave room for much else in its Epic Stanley box due to the wedge shape. Currently its only box partners are a YV-666 and a Lambda.

The Plano 728 is what I'm currently using, could easily hold a GR-75 in the top or one of the side boxes.

One of my friends has a Plano 732 and it fits both his Raider and Gozanti, along with the rest of his extensive Imperial collection.

I have 2 carriers from Battlefoam for my Battletech stuff and will probably do a custom carrier for my x wing attack via battlefoam in a few months

This is my modified storage for the empire ships. It works well and nothing hits. I did similar for the rebels.

KR multicase for me.

Another shout for KR multicase. I have there aluminium one and love it.

Just a quick one between Battlefoam and KR. I personally think Battlefoam look like a better case for a complete force. IE this is my chaos warrior torniment force and I am not changing it.

KR I feel for X-wing KR are better as you do not have precise shapes for small ships, so you can make sure you have a few extra for new releases (same goes for feldher). I prefer the cloth and aluminium designs or KR to feldher's plastic too.

Home Depot has their house name stackable organizers that work fantastic. Customizable with removable sections and really cheap. Come in 2 packs. They have a double sided one that works great for the tokens and such. I think the brand is HDX or something?

Magnetic standing storage for my ships, sorry I don't have a good pic of mine right now. I got the idea from this guy: http://imgur.com/a/zlgTu

I use a Battlefoam 432 bag with one tray for small and large ships and another for huge ships. This leaves me room for a Plano case for all my tokens, dials, etc. and then two binders: one for pilot cards and the other for upgrade cards.

You know... that's a great idea. I have all my original foam in the 432 and to be honest, the bases don't fit great anyway. I need to get a second Epic foam tray but then removing two of the filler ones might work for my plano boxes I carry additionally.

I'm pretty low-tech. Shoe boxes for the different factions (Imperials needed two shoe boxes) all put inside of a bigger cardboard box. Works pretty well, actually.

I'm still in basically a double plano-5231 for my collection, but have since moved my tournament box to an HDX. You get two of them (and they lock together!) for $10. The clamp down really well, can't beat it! After the next wave I forsee me getting two more of these so I have one for each faction, and one tournament box.
