Crazy 8's

"Grav-Vessery"

Colonel Vessery [TIE Defender] - 35

~ Veteran Instincts - 1

~ Tractor Beam - 1

~ Twin Ion Engine Mk. II - 1

~ TIE/D - 0

Carnor Jax [TIE Interceptor] - 26

~ Push the Limit - 3

~ Autothrusters - 2

The Inquisitor [TIE Advanced Prototype] - 25

~ Push the Limit - 3

~ Autothrusters - 2

~ TIE/v1 - 1

Comes out to an even 100 points.

Depending on whether Vessery's intended target has a target lock or not, The Inquisitor can fire first to target lock, thus giving Vessery the ability to target lock for his primary weapon shot. But the majority of the time, you can have Vessery shoot first with the Tractor Beam, force a little barrel roll/boost movement, and drop the target's agility. And then stack on Jax's and The Inquisitor's shots to maximize damage. Also keep in mind Jax's denial bubble when Tractor Beaming.

A little bit of control, a little bit of denial, a lot of bit of putting the hurt on!

I had the same idea this morning! My only concern is Vess' ability depends entirely on one ship. Granted, its not easy to destroy the inquisitor (and he target locks a lot), but I was considering possibly going with Omega Leader instead of Jax...

I had a similar notion, but I also thought about using Omega Leader vice Carnor. That's two ships to activate Vessery and any of the three is nasty one-on-one. Make your foe pick his poison. Moreover, this way your whole squad can stay at range or get close agnostically. You prefer to stay at range because, between Inquisitor's ability and Tractor Beam being a cannon and having the effect it has, you benefit from range 3 more than your foe; but you can also get close without penalty. Carnor has to get close... he lives dangerously. You have more flexibility, then, with Omega Leader vice Carnor, although Carnor gives you a higher ceiling.

I've not played a lot yet, but I was thinking about pairing Tractor-Vess with Redline and Maarek. I'd use Vessery (who'll need VI) to lower agility and hopefully help bring the target into arc, while Redline and Maarek use their skills to finish the job. Both of them are good at generating spare TL's which Vessery can use for his tractor and his normal attack.

Thoughts?

I really like this. Think I'll give it a go as soon as I get my hands on the TIE Advanced prototype. And I agree that Omega Leader will synergise better with Vessery.

My version:

PILOTS

“Omega Leader” [Comm Relay, Push the Limit, Engine Upgrade] (31)

Colonel Vessery [Tractor beam, Veteran Instincts, TIE/D, Twin Ion Engine Mk. II] (38)

The Inquisitor [Push the Limit, TIE/v1, Autothrusters] (31)

Fun list. I'd be a little worried about higher PS Aces, but between your three ships you can cover a lot of arcs, and Omega Leader gives them something to worry about as well, as they tend to ride more fragile ships. Omega Leader and Inquisitor seem like Vessery's best pals.

But Omega Leaders ability only work when Omega Leader att or def right?? or is the "you", you as the player??

You are correct. And lets be thankful that it doesn't affect all attacks/defense rolls by the target....that would make omega leader grossly overpowered...
