When can i spend CF dial and token

By thanosazlin, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

i know i have to spend them together on a single attack if i have BOTH.

Are these 2 assumptions correct?

1. If i just have a CF Dial, do i first get to ROLL my attack dice, LOOK at what i rolled, next decide if i want to spend my CF command dial to add another die then roll that additional die?

2. If i just have a CF Token, do i first get to ROLL my attack dice, LOOK at what i rolled, next decide if i want to spend my CF token to re-roll one die?

and please point me to any rules on this? have been playing this where we declare them before we roll in either case.

Correct on both counts.

ok, so by doing so if i get excellent rolls with my base dice and don't want to spend the CF Dial, i could decided to turn into a CF Token to use on the next ROUND not this round.

Negative.

The only time you can choose wether a Dial becomes a token is when it is revealed .

If you don't turn it into a token then, and subsequently don't use it (resolve it) during your turn, say, because you aced your rolls... Its lost.

duh, geez i can't believe i forgot that. thx

if I have a token already and I have cf dial, an I correct in understanding that I must declare to use the token prior to the roll since otherwise it would count as two separate uses of the same command?

Yes

No, you have the timing of the use of the command incorrect. You would roll the pool of available dice first (so you will at least have some idea that you would benefit from using a command or not), then you would be able to spend the command during the appropriate step of the attack (Step 3. Resolve Attack Effects, Page 2 Rule Reference). At that point you have to chose to go with both, one or none.

If you then fire a separate arc then, if you added the command (dial or token) into the first attack, you may not add the command (dial or token) into the second. Only if your first attack is command free can you chose the second attack to have a command.

Just to jump in here as I too am curious about dial and token use.

If CF is used in the "Resolve Attack Effects" and I have both a Dial and Token can I then choose to use the dial for an additional dice and the token to reroll any dice?

You have 3 choices:

1. Dial only

2. Token only

3. Both Dial and Token.

You can only make this choice once per turn, per ship.

You make these choices during an attack at step 3 and you can chose to do nothing. If you do nothing then at step 3 of your first attack you may in your second attack you may make the choice to use a command at step 3 of your second attack.
