Female pilot cards - List, request and talk

By Blail Blerg, in X-Wing

We need to add the A-Wing pilot I call "Grandma." Seriously, this old lady was doing her best with all the sci-fi mumbo jumbo.

Her pilot ability would be, "When a rule instructs you to do one thing, do something different and blame it on garbled transmissions."

Aye, here's to hoping Norra Wexley makes it into the game someday.

And, the one I'm dreaming about, Princess Leia in an N1! Let's make it happen!

whew. That was close. Glad she didn't make the cut.

*sigh of relif*

One for the Rebel Veterans, if Y-wings are in there, Norra Wexley the only Y-wing pilot to enter the Death Star at the battle of Endor.

Bit OT, but I'm kind of hoping it will be Y and X. There needs to be more Y pilots, so add her in, and give it a title that gives up the turret for a crew slot. Pretty sure at crew + torpedo (or Bomb! Just add Loadout, Munitions and Sabine) would be both fun and viable. The T-65 needs another source of Integrated Astromech, and since we got Maarek in a Defender, why not Corran or Keyan in an X-Wing?

No, you put Keyan in a Y-Wing, since he's the only Y-Wing pilot to survive the First Death Star. The fact that he's only in a B-Wing right now is an insult to Y-Wings. Just imagine his ability, unchanged, in a Y-Wing. He becomes the Stressbot carrier! Or run him with a TLT or ICT without the title and a Targeting Astromech and when the Y-Wing pulls a red maneuver he gets double modifications! I mean, he could do a lot of this stuff with an X-Wing, too, but... Battle of Yavin. Y-Wing. We need this.

Along with Norra Wexley and other Gold Squadron members at Yavin who didn't make it out.

Anyone else disturbed by the new way of thinking that everything needs to be quotas?

Yes. It always struck me as something said by people who are behind the times and are uncomfortable with straight white dudes not running every single show. I get it when the story or game goes out of its way to have the white dudes be utterly humiliated by whoever else, but it's not "fulfilling a quota" to cast John Boyega as Finn or make Rey a woman.

Anyone else disturbed by the new way of thinking that everything needs to be quotas?

Sadly a lot of Star Wars materiel was written in a time in which woman as action stars were thought to be unsellable. There just aren't many notable women in space combat roles. But I don't believe that skipping over more famous pilots to fill an imagined quota is the answer.

If anything creating quotas for women pilots is highly insulting to women, as it creates a system were their own merits are put second to being a woman.

Btw, Howlrunner is my waifu.

A meritocracy would be ideal but since we live in such enlightened times, it is 2016 after all, you need to ensure that everyone gets a piece of the pie. Unless of course they are gluten free vegans then they need their own pie to make sure everything is fair and everyone is happy.
and they must declare that they are vegan and this pie is vegan and gluten free, and that everyone who dislikes that is a hypocrite, bastard and filthy animal deserving a place in hell

and place hashtags.

Just out of curiosity, are you *trying* to get banned?

Right... Sidestepping the debate on the representation of disempowered groups in media because I have a tendency to put my foot in my mouth regarding that topic, I've tried to list all the female pilots in this game that I can recall (in order of waves)

Female Imperial Pilots

-Cive "Howlrunner" Rashon (Tie Fighter): Leader of Obsidian Squadron, the Tie Squadron that pursues the Falcon at the end of ESB. She also led Obsidian Squadron during the Battle of Endor, and was an NPC in Star Wars: Galaxies

-Kath Scarlet (Firespray): Slippery Pirate from the Star Wars: Galaxies TCG

-"Whisper" and "Echo" (Tie Phantom): Due to the lack of named Phantom pilots, FFG created these two. Generally referred to as female because... Supposedly FFG refers to one or both of them as female in articles, although I can't find a mention of Whisper's gender in the preview article, and said article indicates Echo is male.

-Juno Eclipse (Tie Advanced): Leader of the elite Black Eight squadron and pilot of the Rogue Shadow. Major figure in the Force Unleashed multimedia campaign

-Countess Iran Ryad (Tie Defender): Female pilot with political connections from Star Wars: Galaxies. Has been identified by squinting at the render of the Imperial Veterans bases and wookieepedia searches

Female Rebel Pilots

-Ibtisam (B-wing): Rogue Squadron member who advocated the use of the B-wing over the older X-wing starfighter, and participated in the Battle of Endor as part of Blue Squadron. Participated in the New Republic campaign to liberate Coruscant. Lover of Quarren Pilot Nrin Vakil.

-Jan Ors (HWK-290): Partner and eventual lover of mercenary-turned Jedi Kyle Katarn. Highly successful intelligence agent.

-Nera Dantels (B-wing): Smuggler with Strong Rebel Sympathies. Lover of Biggs Darklighter. From Dark Horses's line of Star Wars Comics.

-Jessika Pava (T-70 X-wing): Unnoficially designated by the forums as "Blue Ace" since she's the most visible T-70 pilot in Blue Squadron without a Callsign (The other surviving Blue Squadron pilot from the trench run is Temmin "Snaps" Wexly. I can't find a named member of Red Squadron, so we have no idea who Red Ace is). Fan of Luke Skywalker who asks C-3P0 to tell her a story about him in The Weapon of a Jedi.

-Hera Syndulla (Attack Shuttle and VCX-100): Daughter of Twi-lek War hero Cham Syndulla. Led the rebel cell on Lothal, and eventually promoted to leader of Phoenix Squadron.

-Sabine Wren (Attack Shuttle): Mandalorian Explosives Expert and graffiti artist. Member of the Ghost cell of the early Rebellion. Only 16 years old, which is kind of uncomfortable to think about considering her body count in the show.

Scum and Villiany

-Guri (Starviper): Human Replica Droid bodyguard of Prince Xixor of Shadows of the Empire. Capable of passing for human in pretty much every way, which makes Xixor way more disturbing than I realized when I was a kid.

-Kath Scarlet (Firespray): See imperial entry above

-Soresu (M3-A Scyk Interceptor): Bothan Smuggler of the Car'das criminal organization. Highest tier pilot trainer for the Scyk in Star Wars: Galaxies

-Drea Renthal (Y-wing): Pirate Queen with a strong code of honor. One of Lando Calrisian's many love affairs.

-Latts Razi (Yv-666): Bounty Hunter who worked alongside Boba Fett, Dengar, Bossk, and Assajj Ventress during the Clone wars

-Manaroo (Jumpmaster 5000): Former slave of Jabba the Hutt who married Dengar and helped him rescue Boba Fett

Hyperbole would never constitute a reasonable ban.

Right, generalizing and insulting a group of people over their lifestyle choice is a totally cool thing to do.

I chose vegans (lifestyle choice) because everyone (generalization) thinks they are silly (insult) to indirectly make a point about other groups whom I find equally silly. the fact that it triggered warpman into making a response was icing on the cake.

I don't understand girls wanting a girl pilot. There was a huge argument about lack of female pilots already. FFG will continue as normal.

Well good thing I didn't post an opinion.

I was upset that they didn't make her look like someone who has lived a hard life out in the middle of a blasted wasteland of a desert planet for the last 13+ years...Oh whats that, stylishly mussed hair, smooth skin, some makeup? Bah!

It's ok though, they smudged a little dirt onto her.

Amazing. As a big fan of Ibtisam, I wish this were real!

Is that FFG art? If so, I'll just print a copy of the right size and sleeve it on top of my standard Ibtisam card.

But please, don't leave without fire extinguisher.

Back on topic: we need moar PROMO CARDS with our ladies.

Luke is cool, Vader is epic, but hey, why not something that pleases the eye?

Why would he be buff? He should have looked worn, probably pretty wiry if he had been alone in a desert. In the movie though, his family seemed to be doing pretty well, they had droids to do their labor, at least 2 speeders that we see, a home that had a few buildings and a courtyard, and they owned a lot of land. Add to this that they harvested water on a desert planet and their product probably had a pretty high demand. They probably got some of that sweet Naboo Senator money put away to help support his care as well.

Luke lived on an established moisture farm with a stable family, Rey had to scavenge everyday for 13 years with only the protection? of Simon Pegg's character.

Empire has Kath Scarlet, Whisper, Echo, Howlrunner, Juno Eclipse, the upcoming Countess Ryad, etc., and they have plenty of crew too, such as Ysanne Isard, Mara Jade, and Fleet Officer. Plus there's always Imperial-Only Elite Talent Ruthlessness...
