So ive been wondering why there has been a lack of news over new products from ffg, especially in the star wars product line. Except for imperial veterans in xwing, news on new products has been slim to none. No armada stuff for months, imperial assault only has 2 figure packs due out with nothing behind that, and xwing is just wave 8 and imp veterans. My original thought was episode 7 tie ins, but as we are almost a month past that there must be some other catalyst driving it.

It could be they want less time from announcement to street date, or to let current products feel fresh by not giving new product news, while that could be the case, im wondering if there is a bigger more business oriented reason. As many of you know ffg becomes asmodee north america on 4-1 and starting that date they have a new set of rules about who can distribute, and who can sell, and via what medium.

The radio silence, while explainable with different theories, im wondering if they are waiting for 4-1. Its possible if they announce it now current distributors might have contractual rights to order, throwing a wrench into thier more tightly controlled business model. I hope im wrong as a near 3 month new product line freeze could suck, its a reasonable theory that no one has presented.

The holiday season just ended.

Right im not saying new stuff hitting the street, im saying any new product news. The newest product news for any of the 3 sw games was xwing imp veterans. Armada wave 2 hit the street mths back and no news at all, same with IA, and xwing has wave 8 and vets... Just seems oddly quiet. Explainable sure, but its possible they are waiting until the new model is in place is all. Im not saying its 100% sure or obvious, im just saying its a possibility i havent seen anyone speculate about.

To be honest, it’s a nice change of pace.

Maybe the production cycle is slower. If they are slower because they are concerned with quality, I'm all for that. I'm not familiar with Armada, but the X-wing and IA are very nice. I for one appreciate a little more time between products. I also play Heroclix and they churn out stuff like mad! It's actually overwhelming the pace they go... And IA and X wing are so much better quality products, by far!

Yeah, I sold my HeroClix stuff to get into IA. IA has better quality components, is simpler (without being shallow), just as thematic, and more fun in my opinion.

I'm done with EVERYTHING, but I've gotten better (and got better brushes too), so now I need to go back and make my originals better. Especially Vader.

I like pacing the releases, but I also like knowing what is coming down the road.

As far as painting goes, I'm already far enough behind. All of my Rebels and Mercenaries are awaiting painting, as are my Return to Hoth-wave Imperials.

Ffg typically announce new stuff as the previous batch hits the stores.

There's still x-wing and IA stuff to hit the shelves so I'm sure we'll get more news in a couple of weeks.

I've never seen the upcoming page look so bare, probably due to episode 7 and the holiday season. I think news will start coming thick and fast very soon to fill the queue back up.

Yes, Rebellion. Hmmm.... I'm planning on selling/trading my SW LCG stuff to get 2 X-Wing Core + 2 expansions.... but maybe I should get Rebellion instead.

Probably not. I want X-Wing because it's simpler to play than the LCG - I'm guessing that Rebellion is NOT simpler to play than X-Wing.
